Life with Leukemia, a Puppy, and Some Reading - January 7

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Wined and Died in New Orleans by Ellen Byron - I liked the first book in the series and I can't resist a New Orleans setting.  (Publisher)

Macarons Can Be Murder by Rose Betencourt - A foodie cozy always catches my attention and this one looks good! (Publisher)

Playing Dead by Peggy Rothschild - This is the 2nd book in a cozy series about a dog trainer but it looks interesting enough for me to try jumping in here.  (Publisher)

Currently:

Reading:  Fatal Fascinator by Jenn McKinlay and Black Coffee by Agatha Christie

Listening:  Hello, Sunshine by Laura Dave

I hope everyone had a happy holiday season and a Happy New Year!  We had a pretty relaxing time and Will turned 13!  Other then some energy ups and downs he's been feeling pretty good.  Even better news is that treatment ends in just a few weeks!  The appointment just came down for his last chemo treatment and we are so excited.  It'll be a pretty tough week as he'll have a spinal tap, bone marrow test, bone density tests, and hopefully surgery for port removal in addition to the last dose of chemo but it'll be so amazing to be done.  It's going to take some time to transition to what our new "normal" is but I think we are all looking forward to having more structure and not having to work around multiple medical appointments.

I enjoyed the break off of dog training but classes are starting back up.  Rover and I have our first Rally class since December today.  My expectations are not high as we are both out of practice and while he is 15 months old Golden Retrievers are typically big puppies until they are 2 or 3 and he is a pretty good example of that!  I am looking forward to the classes I assist in starting back - especially puppy class!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  19. Will looks so good right now! I was happy to hear on Facebook that the holidays were great and his birthday was a feeling good day, too. I cannot wait to see that last day of treatment post! 🤗

As a former owner of Irish Setters, I am very familiar with the puppy stage lasting a couple of years. Ha ha. At least things are never boring. 😊

    Have a wonderful week. ☀

  20. It will be amazing for Will to be finished with all the treatments soon. It's been a huge marathon for him and his parents! Ah nice to have Rover in a puppy stage for a little while longer than some dogs because it keeps him young! Happy cozy reading.
