Friday Linkups: Dangerous Denial
It's Friday so time to link up with The Book Blogger Hop hosted by The Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings on Fridays from Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 from Freda's Voice
Book Blogger Question:
What books would you want to read again for the first time?
My Answer:
This is a hard one. I think right now I wish I could read Great Expectations for the first time now. It's what I got in my Classics Club spin and I really disliked it when I read it in high school. I think I can safely say that at 34 I am not the same person I was at 14 but my dislike has me dragging my feet.
This week's book is Dangerous Denial by Amy Ray. This was a review request from the author and so far it's a fun thriller!
The Beginning:
"BK Hartshaw stared at the face of the man with the gun. She recognized him."
The 56 from 19% of my Kindle
""Someday I'll be coming here as a member instead of as one of the hired help. I'll go that way." Jeanne pointed to the road that would take them to the front door of the club where a valet in a navy blue and gold uniform waited to park the members' cars."
So what do you think? Would you keep reading?

I love suspense, so yes, I want to know more! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm enjoying this one!
DeleteWhile I have seen several film versions of Great Expectations, I have never read the novel.
ReplyDeleteI actually have never seen a film version. Maybe once I get it read I'll have to go check one out!
DeleteJeanne sounds tough. I'd definitely keep reading.
ReplyDeleteHere is my 56 - http://fuonlyknew.com/2014/09/12/the-friday-56-36-a-crafty-christmas-by-mollie-cox-bryan/
I'm very curious to see how Jeanne fits into the story. So far it's an intersting read.
DeleteHmm, sounds like a coming up in the world kind of story.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56
Yes I'm definitely curious to see how this all fits in!
DeleteI agree with you in that I seem to appreciate books a lot more now, than when I was a teenager in HS. Some rereads would be fun, but I wouldn't be able to help and think of my HS teachers! Ha!
ReplyDeleteDangerous Denial's book cover has me intrigued; that's for sure. I always enjoy novels with a young good heroine.
So far I'm enjoying the book and am hoping it stays interesting!
DeleteI definitely will remember my high school teachers while reading this book though I only had one that was particularly memorable so that will help keep them from overshadowing the book! This is one of the few I want to reread though.
Yes, keep Reading! Man with a gun? Go in the front door rather than the back? I want to know all about it! I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing how this goes!
DeleteYes, I want to know is he pointing the gun at her. If he is pointing it at her, is he an old boy friend? She seems to know him.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely curious to see how this all comes to be. So far so good!
DeleteYES! I love suspense and your great beginning and tease hooked me. Enjoy your weekend.

I'm enjoying this one so far! Looking forward to getting more of the story read!
DeleteSomething from high school might be something I would re-read, but I normally do not re-read.
ReplyDeleteToo many good books out there to re-read. :)
Scary book beginning...thanks for sharing.

My Blog Hop Answer
Most of the books I read in high school I have no interest in rereading. However, this one I disliked so strongly but have heard so many people love it that I think it's worth revisiting!
DeleteWho did she recognize?! Yes, keep reading! :D
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm enjoying this one! Definitely looking forward to seeing where all the hints go.
DeleteVery intriguing cover art and the title sounds very musical in rhythm. I like that the character in the book sees potential in the future; active club member.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious to see how all the pieces of this one fit together!
DeleteThe cover goes with the opening. Both make a really bold statement.
ReplyDeleteI do so like when the cover matches the book itself! It's always a little confusing when it doesn't!
DeleteI would read this-- I love thrillers! Sounds exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying this one so far! I love thrillers too though it's been awhile since I've read one I really enjoyed.
DeleteThat book sounds super intriguing!!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
So far I'm definitely enjoying it!
DeleteI'm wondering what the denial is and what makes it so dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI think in general denial is dangerous! Definitely curious to see where this one goes!
DeleteI like thrillers. I'll have to check back when you do the review to see what you thought.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to have it up by Thursday!
DeleteMmmm....this sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying it!
DeleteYes, it does intrigue me. What does she know about the man with the gun?
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten everything figured out quite yet but I'm definitely looking forward to finding out all that's going on!
DeleteOh woops. I meant to invite you to my blog, too. Here are my quotes---Anne
ReplyDeleteThanks! Somehow I missed you this week!
DeleteYou can read the first four chapters of DANGEROUS DENIAL for free at the Barking Rain Press website.
ReplyDeleteHi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever knowingly re-read a book, in fact once I have read a book, I will either pass on a physical copy and get it out of the house, or in the case of an e-book, delete it from the device. There are just too many great books out there to get through, with more being added by the day!
I have always loved books, way back since before I could read for myself, they are almost an obsession for me!
I wonder if the gun is pointing at BK? ... That would surely be a terrifying scenario, if you knew the person!
If you knew the person holding the gun and they were pointing it at someone else ... that would be arguably even worse, as the consequences could be disastrous!
I do read slightly lighter mysteries from time to time, so this is definitely one to bear in mind for the future.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekeend.
Yvonne.
I definitely agree about there being so many great books to get trhough but I do periodically reread. It's kind of like comfort food - there are books I reread if my brain is too tired to process new stories or sometimes to bust out of a slump.
DeleteI'm curious to see how all the pieces work out in this one and how BK ends up on the wrong side of a gun!
I would definitely keep reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking this one so far!
DeleteNeed to see the rest of the teaser! I love Great Expectations, but not sure I would want to plow through it again. I am currently stuck on Little Dorrit. Have you ever read any of Craig Johnson's Longmire series? I've read all of them twice and enjoyed them even more the second time. Great characters, great scenery, great twists and a lot of humor.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the Longmire series but it sounds like something I would enjoy. I know there was a show called Longmire that I'll assume was based off the books? I don't see myself rereading Great Expectations after I make it through this read but I do feel like I should given Dickens another try!
DeleteI have re-read the classics as an adult and find that I see things in a new light, or depth perhaps.
ReplyDeleteI always have such a hard time answering that question! Everything and nothing! That's not really an answer is it?
