Life with Leukemia (And Some Reading) - June 6

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

This week has been okay.  Will was on steroids last week and it actually went pretty well though steroids are always tough.  He's started having some pain and weakness which unfortunately is normal for this treatment and thankfully pretty mild for now.  We have a great physical therapist at the St Jude affiliate here and she's been really working with us on preventing things from getting worse and getting things better so we have a few treatment plans going there.  We are hoping my dad's pool will warm up enough soon so we can start using the pool which is great therapy and fun too.

Other then that nothing too exciting.  We've been trying to tackle some of the projects that got neglected around the house.  I've been reading some but think I might need a genre shakeup so I might throw something a little different into the mix soon to shake things up.  I'm getting my hair cut this week after a year!  I'm not going to do anything massively different but I am excited.

Currently:

Reading:  The Princess Spy by Larry Loftis and Death on the Night of Lost Lizards by Julia Buckley

Listening:  Death Brings a Shadow by Rosemary Simpson

Watching:  Just YouTube.  I found a true crime channel I'm really liking called That Chapter and I've been especially been enjoying an old favorite - The Try Channel where Irish people try all kinds of crazy food or drinks.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  2. It is amazing how a hair cut can make you feel so good. Yes sometimes a change up of genre is just what helps our reading to keep going. Hope the Princess Spy is good. While I don't want to know much about true crime, one of the women quilters who owns a shop loves it and has gone to Crime Con this week - somewhere in the USA, not sure where. Each to their own!!

  3. The pool will be great! Swimming is such fun exercise, especially for kids. I'm in need of a haircut too. I just don't know what to do — I hear curtain bangs are all the rage again. A change would be nice!

  4. Swimming is great. Our neighborhood has a pool but we haven't been there yet and we've been here almost 2 years. It is definitely easier on the body, like with back/hip pain. We just got new swimsuits so we will go one day soon. I find a genre change refreshing and I do it frequently because I enjoy so many genres.

  5. Changing a genre sometimes is all you need.

I hope that Will will have a good week and yes to the pool!

    Take care of yourself.

  6. I look forward to your review of Princess Spy. I just fnsihed News of the World and I keep hearing Tom Hanks voice since he is in the movie. It was so good and I cried at the end. That doesn't happen very often!

Poor Will, I hope he gets to use that pool soon. And yea to your haircut. I still haven't been to the hairdresser but we are on week 4 of living in the RV so...it;s gonna wait :-)

  7. Wishing Will another good (or better) week, and a chance to get in the pool.

Princess Spy looks interesting, and Death on the Night of Lost Lizards has to be the most unusual title I've seen this month. I look forward to your thoughts on both of those.

And enjoy your haircut! I need one, but I'll probably get my husband to do it (just a blunt cut to chop off some length), because too many people around here aren't vaccinated.

  8. I'm glad y'all have a good therapist for Will at least. Wishing him an even better week this week! Yay for your hair cut. I know the feeling, I got mine done in April after almost 2 years and it was transformative for how I felt. Enjoy it!!

  9. It's wonderful that there is a person who is working with Will to keep things going smoothly. I hope he gets a chance to swim soon. Nothing like swimming, I think.

I was so happy to finally get my hair cut after a year of cutting my own hair. Yes, you heard right...I went out in the backyard with a mirror and scissors. I have no idea what it looked like in the back.

  13. Very curious about your haircut. I need one. I think for months is too long for my fine hair. I hope Will isn't in too much discomfort. He is a warrior.
