Favorite Book of the Month

A Pretty Deceit by Anna Lee Huber -  Despite getting quite a number of books read this month I pretty much enjoyed all the books I read equally but the glamour of the characters made this post-World War 1 adventure stand out in my memory.

Least Favorite Book of the Month:

The $64: How One Man Nearly Lost His Sanity, Spent a Fortune, and Endured an Existential Crisis in the Quest for the Perfect Garden by William Alexander - I had such high hopes for this one and was so disappointed I ended up DNFing it  I think everyone who has ever grown tomatoes can relate to the title but the author came off as more then a bit pompous and after awhile I just couldn't care that he could see the faucets from his professionally installed irrigation system raising out of the professionally built raised beds in his professionally landscaped yard.

How was your May reading?

  1. That's a good reading month. Post-World War I was a glamorous time. I wonder what our post-pandemic world will be like.

  2. You definitely have me beat on the reading front for sure(lol). Despite not reading as much, I still keep collecting more and more books though.(lol) I was thrilled to see Cruella last weekend, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Next movie I'm looking forward to is Loki. Of course, I'm definitely watching Top Chef, Master Chef and Hell's Kitchen for summer fun. Hope all is well, and sending lots of hugs to ou and the famil. RO

  3. You did awesome!!! Happy June!

  4. I like how that first cover reminds me of an old school travel poster.

  5. 18 books is no reading slouch. I just picked up the Huber book I am up to, and good to hear A Pretty Deceit stands up well.

  6. Eighteen books is wonderful! The gardening book title made me laugh! Too bad it was a disappointment.

  7. Wow, that was a great reading month! I'd like to try the Verity Kent series.

  8. 18 books! Wowser! I think my top number ever was 12. You are on a roll. 📚📚📚📚📚📚📚

You should read some of the scathing reviews on Amazon for the tomato book. 🍅 You aren't the only one to think he was pompous. 😅

  9. Good question....
I read six books: one about K-pop, two raunchy modern day romances, one standard modern day romance, and a mystery.
