Friday Linkups - Echoes of Evil

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Have you ever thought about taking a break from blogging?  If you have, how long was your break and what did you learn from it?

My Answer:
I actually haven't taken a break in the 5 years I've been blogging and haven't really felt the desire to do so.  I do have the desire to take a step back from review books - or at least cut down on the quantity of review books - and am working on that.

This week's book is the final in a trilogy that I've been meaning to get to since it was published this fall.  This trilogy is actually part of Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series that is kind of a paranormal romantic suspense.  I've read the first two and really enjoyed them so I just have Echoes of Evil to go (and a whole bunch more of the series but we're not going to talk about that right now).  I've heard some mixed reviews on this one but since I typically find a not so great Heather Graham book enjoyable if not memorable I'm feeling okay about it.

The Beginning:
The rhythmic sound of his own breathing through his regulator was, to Brodie McFadden, the sweetest music; there simply was nothing like diving.

My Thoughts:
It sounds horribly claustrophobic to me but more power to him.

The 56:
Of course, the second she saw Kody, tears formed in her eyes and she hugged Kody fiercely.

My Thoughts:
Not the most dramatic of lines but it sounds like something rather terrible has happened.

So what do you think?  Keep reading?

  1. I'm a big believer in blog breaks for me, but it's taken me years to figure out my own wishes in that regard. In any case, enjoy your reading regardless - that's the aim, right? :-)

  2. I've taken the odd break for maybe a week if I'm sick, tired or on holiday. There have been times where I've thought about my long term blogging future. At some point in the next ten years I can see my blog closing down so I can spend my time just reading and watching things rather than so much time online. I'm not sure when I'll sign off for good but it isn't going to be right now!

  4. I’ve been blogging for 10 years but I’m not a daily poster. Nor do I keep to a schedule so it may be one day between posts or 5. But recently, getting hit with the flu kept me from blogging. I have nothing planned. Just starting to read again!

  6. I've never scuba dived but I imagine one would have to be very attuned to their breathing underwater. My Friday quotes come from Life on Mars

  10. I have been meaning to read Heather Graham.

I've never taken a blog break...although, in fact, I went a little crazy adding lots of blogs for a while, so reducing the number to six blogs could be viewed as kind of a break.

  11. I understand the need to step back from book reviews. I feel like I'll never catch up these days. I take blogging breaks now and then, usually for a week or two. Have a great weekend.
