This Week in Reading - December 30

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Nothing!  I'm planning on doing a little post Christmas shopping for me but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Reading:  Finishing up/rereading bits and pieces of books.  I don't want to start anything new until January 1st.

Listening:  Nothing right now though I'm trying to decide what my first audio book will be for 2019

Watching:  So many movies!  We've watched Big Jake (loved it), the new Murder on the Orient Express (liked it more than I expected), The Thin Man (entertaining), Cary Grant's last film called Walk Don't Run (really funny), Frisco Kid (also really funny) and a few others.  We are also watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix though I can only manage 1 episode a day.

Off the Blog:

We had a lovely Christmas which included a fairly lazy Christmas day which was nice.  We watched a version of A Christmas Carol Christmas night which I really enjoyed and may be our new tradition.  Other than that we've spent most of this week getting ready for the Tornado's birthday and then celebrating it.  He's 9 now which blows my mind.

We've all kind of shifted to staying up really late and sleeping late which is going to make the going back to school/work brutal but for now it's really fun.  Now we're figuring out what to do for New Years Eve.  I'm not big on the whole finding a sitter hassle but I do like doing something a little special.  Last year we went to this restaurant that has lots of games and things (kind of like Chuck E. Cheese but cleaner and with better food) and I think that's what we will do again.  The Tornado loves it and it's a lot of fun.

Right now I'm working on reading stats for last year and book lists for next year.  This year didn't quite turned out like I wanted but I did get some fantastic books read!

  1. Glad you had a nice Christmas! And happy birthday to the Tornado as well! I can't believe it's almost New Years and Christmas is already over- wow! that went fast. :)

I liked the new Murder on the Orient Express too- I thought they did a pretty good job with it!

  2. Nice quiet holidays work best for me, too. We used to go out and party, but this time of year brings in a lot of fog, which is brutal for driving.

Enjoy your plans and your reading. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. I am looking forward to those posts of a book list of some sort! Enjoy New year's eve, mine is coming up fast, just a sleep away as evening here of 30th.

  4. I love lazying around during holidays as well. I am glad you enjoyed it. Happy New year.

  5. I'm all raring to go for next year and hopefully a better year for attacking the TBR! I never do anything for New Year except try and be asleep before the fireworks start! I'll be glad when its over!

  6. Hope you have a lovely New Year!

  7. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas! I'm planning on doing some Christmas shopping myself!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  8. We are going out to dinner with my parents and sister, then back to my house for dessert. I used to do a big party but it was just too much work and money and I gave it up. Do you go to Dave and Busters? They have something like that by us and it has good food, drinks and games for adults and the kids. I have always wanted to go.

I did a little after Christmas Shopping on amazon :) Got myself some books because you can never have to many.

Have a great week, Katherine! Happy New Year! xx

  9. We had a nice Christmas too. It has been a long week. We too have been staying up late and sleeping late which isn't good for school coming. We will have to try to fix that in the next few days. I did get some books tho which I was happy about! Have a wonderful New Year!

  10. Sounds like you had a nice Christmas. One of my own little traditions is to watch White Christmas on Christmas Eve. :)

Can't wait to see what kind of goodies you get yourself in your after Christmas shopping!

Have a great week and happy new year!

  11. I didn't get anything for Christmas except yarn I bought myself. I'm ok with that as I have enough stuff.

I'm also planning my first reads of the new year. I'm going to listen to Summoned to 13th Grave by Darynda Jones and read Sisters of the Fire by Kim Wilkins. If it's too much fantasy at the same time, I'll read A Merciful Fate by Kendra Elliot, a mystery first.

We definitely have the staying up later and later problem. Happy New Year! Anne - Books of My Heart

  12. Yay for low-key lazy Christmas Days. 🎄

The Tornado is NINE?! How did that happen? 😱

    Happy New Year! 🎉

  13. Glad you had a good Christmas. Yeah we'd stay up til at least midnight and wake up past 10, sometimes not rolling out of bed until 11.

  14. And I CANNOT believe Tornado is 9!!! For reals? OMGosh.
