Friday Fives - Five Long Running Series That Are On My List to Start Next

I'm taking a bit of a break from my usual Friday Linkups to try something a little different.  I'm in a list making kind of mood so I thought I'd start making random five lists.  Sometimes they'll be bookish other weeks not so much.  I'm making progress on catching up with some of the series I've started but I have several long running ones I'm really looking forward to starting.

1.  The Meg Langslow Mysteries by Donna Andrews - I've read most of the most recent books in this series and absolutely loved them and I'm looking forward to going back to the beginning and getting to know the characters in the earlier days.

2.  Murder, She Wrote by Jessica Fletcher and assorted authors - I've always been a fan of the show but always dismissed the books until recently.  I was so surprised to discover they're just as delightful as the show and I'm looking forward to getting started on the early books.

3.  Mrs. Jeffries Mysteries by Emily Brightwell - I've absolutely loved the most recent books in this series and picked up the first book not that long ago.  I didn't love it quite as much but I'm looking forward to seeing the series develop.

4.  Gaslight Mysteries by Victoria Thompson - Another series that I've really enjoyed the most recent books but never read the early books.

5.  In Death Books by J.D. Robb - I love Nora Roberts' books and especially enjoy her suspense titles.  I've never really tried this series because I've been a bit put off by the future setting but I think now is the time to try it.

Do you have any long running series you're looking forward to reading?

  1. I read one book in the J.D. Robb series and I really need to get back to it. I enjoyed it, but now there are so many books in the series. I love the Murder She Wrote series.

  4. I also want to read The Murder She Wrote books, they do look like a lot of fun for sure. Gaslight Mysteries seems like something I will enjoy as well.

    Have a great weekend Katherine.

  5. I binged the Gaslight Mysteries a couple years ago and am not current. Don't miss the author's notes about the actual history behind some of the plots. I am also current on In Death other than the one released this month. Both are very worth reading.

  7. I am somewhere in the teens of the Robb books. A friend used to lend them to me, then I moved away and lost track. I am going to do a re-read and finish them...one day!

  8. I have read two of the JD Robb books and enjoyed both. I think that I read book #50 and then went back to #1. I might start trying to read one per month beginning next year.
