This Week in Reading - April 14

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts - I read a Sheila Roberts books ages ago and really enjoyed it and have been wanting to revisit her books ever since then.  This one looks good and I love the summery cover!  (Publisher)

Reading:  The Last Camellia by Sarah Jio and The Missing Years by Lexie Elliot

Listening:  I finished The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell and am now listening to Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts

Watching:  Mostly movies - I've been watching lots of Hallmark movies and we watched a fun Doris Day movie over the week.  Our Disney movie last weekend was Frozen and we are in the debating process for this weekend's.  I'm' trying for either The Rescuers, Tangled, or Princess and the Frog but not sure what will happen.

Off the Blog:

I started running again!  I'm doing a plan that's more for rehabbing which is lots of short intervals and so far it's going very well.  It feels great to be moving again and I'm really enjoying it.  I switched to a walking path versus my neighborhood as it's a lot more level and I don't have to worry about cars.  My legs are killing me at the moment but more in a sore way than an injury way so I'm happy about that.  I'm really looking forward to making progress.  Other than that it was a quiet week and next week isn't going to be too exciting either.  The Tornado is out Friday for a weather day (yay for not having enough bad weather that we lost it!) and I'm hoping it's a pretty day so we can go do something fun.

On the Blog:

  1. The Missing Years is on my list...and I love Sarah Jio's books. I need to try Sheila Roberts.

Good luck with the running. I used to do that years ago...

    Have a great week.

  2. I need to start running again. Or half running haha or whatever my pitiful attempt would be. :) Glad it's going well though! I am more motivated now that it's not bitterly freezing every day lol.

I've never seen the Rescuers but I did like Tangled. Haven't seen the Frog one. Hope you guys have fun whichever one you go with!

  3. Congrats on getting back to running again! I need to find something I enjoy doing so I move a bit more, too. Time is a problem for me these days, though, especially because swimming is the one sport I feel like I could do without hurting any joints or my back...
I hope you'll enjoy your new book!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  4. I love Doris Day Movies. They remind me of my Nana! Which one did you watch? For Disney movies, have you seen Mary Poppins Returns yet? My family really enjoyed it. Have a great week!

  5. The Sheila Roberts book does have a lovely summer cover. I hope the running continues to go well, exercise when underway always - well nearly always- feels good.

  6. Kudos to you for getting out there and running. I remember I "used" to do that too back in the day. I see you've been into the Disney movies, so you probably already know that Disney+ is offering up a streaming service for just $6.99 where not only Disney exclusives will be housed but Marvel too. I wonder if other streaming services will begin to lower their monthly pricing to compete. I love the older movies with Doris Day, Rock Hudson and others. The outfits, humor and furniture are all so cool. They don't make movie classics like those anymore. The cover on Summer Retreat is giving us a subliminal message to get to the beach, right? (lol) Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO

  7. I'm running on walking paths too, as I'm so scared of falling again. This way I don't need to worry about ups and downs of pavements. And I'm building up very slowly with walk/run intervals. I'm in no rush, slowly does it. Hope your soreness eases soon, and then it all becomes a lot more enjoyable!
Love the look of The Summer Retreat.

  9. I vote Tangled! Loved that one. Yay for running again. I need to get moving again myself. Have a great week!

  10. I'm glad you are finding a running pace that is working for you. I will never run again, but I love my walking time. I am a pretty fast walker, and that is satisfying to me.

I think we need to share more on our blogs the books we return unread. I tend to skip over that and focus on reviewing those I finish, but the DNF books are important, too.

  11. We had a mild winter snow wise, so I know our kids will be getting some extra days for Easter, too. I always loved having the extra time to spend with Baz, like you do with the Tornado. 🌷🌷🌷

    Running! 🏃💨

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  12. You have really been in to romancy types lately...maybe it's catching cause I am sort of in the mood for that too. I guess they are nice fluff to read between

Have a great week and happy reading!

  13. I miss the outdoors, I feel like I have been trapped in this house. I want to start walking again and might do that more once the weather gets a little warmer. I could use the time alone.

I hope you have a wonderful week, Katherine! Happy Reading! xx

  14. Good luck with the running. I'm more a biking and swimming, lower impact. Walking is good too. We are near the town's greenway and it is lovely. Yay for Friday off! We are off too. Have a great week and enjoy your reads!

  15. Starting running again is always the hardest part but once you get going it's quite fun.
    Good luck with your progress.

  16. Good job with the running! I like to take long, brisk walks these days... it's easier on my knees. It's been a long time since I read a Sarah Jio novel, but they are so good. Have a great week :)

  17. I used to love running then I got shin splints and had to switch to biking. Congrats on getting back to it. And I'll cross my fingers the weather is great for y'all.

    My Sunday Post

  18. Yay on running and that it makes you happy. I run 3x a week on the Bowflex; I warm up first with a 16-minute, interval program at a walking speed. I even created a playlist of hip hop and RNB to walk to and then I blast Linkin Park and their collabs with Jay-Z for my 19 minutes of running. Then I cool down at a slow walk to Cardi B and Camilla Cabello.

  19. I've enjoyed Sarah Jio's writing before and hope you are enjoying The Last Camellia. That is great that you are running again! I was hoping we could start walking again in the evenings on the weekends, but we haven't managed it yet. During the week it's impossible. Too much going on. I hope you have a great week!

  20. I need to get started on some proper exercise instead of just house and garden DIY!

  21. I vote for Tangled, it’s a fun movie. Good for you getting back out there!

    Have a great reading week

  22. No running for me, but I desperate to walk again. Have a lovely week!

  23. I just finished and reviewed The Summer Retreat. I hope you loved it!
