First Books of 2020

Early in my blogging days I discovered First Book hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey and it quickly became one of my favorite traditions.  This year I didn't quite get my act together in time to take a picture and send it over to Sheila.  In fact I just officially decided on what book I wanted to read yesterday afternoon.  My reading goals for 2020 are very vague - vaguer then they've ever been - with a low reading goal and the main goal just to enjoy my reading.  So with that in mind here are my first books for 2020!

First Book:

Dead Man's Folly by Agatha Christie - I've been neglecting Agatha Christie the last couple of years and I've missed her!

First eBook:

The Country Guesthouse by Robyn Carr - I've really enjoyed this series so I was excited to get a copy of this for review.

First Audio Book:

Heart of Evil by Heather Graham - I love the Krewe series and this one takes place in Louisiana where I've been spending a lot of time.  I also absolutely love romantic suspense on audio so this seems like the perfect first audio.

Word of the Year: Focus

What are your first reads for 2020?

  1. These all sound like great first choices, Katherine! I should have posted about my first e-book for the year, but I just went with the paper book (the Songs of Achilles). I'll remember for next year. Maybe. Have a Happy New Year!

  2. With all the mysteries I've been reading lately (including those wonderful British Crime Classics I've been scarfing up although I'm SO behind on reviewing them) I'd really like to read more Christie in 2020- hopefully I'll make it happen!!

  4. I'm currently reading the political memoir of former PM John Major and it is a good read but very long! I'm about a third of the way through it but will also start a fiction book today so I can start hitting my challenge numbers while I go through the big doorstopper of a book!

  5. I don't think you can go wrong with an Agatha Christie as your first book of the year - I hope you enjoy all three of these titles. I am starting the new year with The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.

  12. I love Robyn Carr! She's a wonderful person and a great writer. I especially love the communities she builds in her books. I'm really behind in my Carr reading, but I'm glad you're enjoying her new books. I'll get to them someday!
