My 2019 Reading Adventures

Book Stats:

Books Read in 2019: 126

Most Read Genre: Mystery (Shocking I know) at 68

I had 25 rereads this year and 28 romances (there is quite a bit of overlap there) and both of those numbers surprised me as I didn't feel like I had read much of either.

I listened to 36 books on audio.

I  neglected books with K, Q, X, Y, and Z in the title.

Travel through Reading:

My only rules for travel books is that they had to be fiction and had to be a real place.  Other then that there are no rules.  Rereads and any other genre were all counted.

I visited England 43 times, Ireland 5.  Greece, France, and Australia were all visited once and I went to the Bermuda Triangle once.

My most visited state was California at 8 visits with Colorado coming in 2nd with 5 visits.

I visited 26 out of 50 states.

I have books lined up for most of the states but am struggling to find books that take place in Delaware, Utah, either of the Dakotas, and Wyoming.  Suggestions?

  1. I love how you reflect on your year, but also with the travel aspect too! Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for you, sorry! I hope you find some wonderful books to fit the bill.

  2. I can't think of any books off the top of my head. A few of my apocalypse reads are set in all kinds of different states especially the rural areas though. I wish I could have 25 re-reads! Once I tackle the monster called TBR I'll get back to a few favourites!

  3. It’s cool that you track book settings. I know that most of the books I read are set in the US, but I don’t have exact numbers.

  4. The Lager Queen of Minnesota would get you Minnesota but also a bit of South Dakota. Pretty sure Kitchens of the Great Midwest also has South Dakota. The Long Winter is in South Dakota. There's a mystery series set in Deadwood, SD- Dearly Departed in Deadwood by Ann Charles.

  5. Wyoming is where Craig Johnson sets his Walt Longmire series - first book is The Cold Dish. Such a great series. And if you want a look at some locations of mystery series in the US, try this link: http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/LocationCats/USA/index.html

  6. The Dakotas are tough to find! I just read SCARS LIKE WINGS by Erin Stewart. It's a moving YA novel about burn survivors and it's set in Utah.

  7. I love the whole traveling with books thing! I need to look at states because I only generally look at countries.

You did great reading! I only had six re-reads (I think), but I was still surprised myself. I thought I only had a couple. 👍✨

  8. I love traveling through books, too. That's why I join the Literary Escapes Reading Challenge even though I never complete it. I just think it's fun keeping track of where I've "been".

  9. I haven't tried to track where the books I read are set. It's pretty interesting to see what you have at the end of the year. It sounds like you had a good reading year!

  10. Interesting stats. I didn't do any detailed ones this year, but I might have to track what I do this year.

    Thanks for sharing.

  11. Smiled at the number of mysteries and yes surprised at 28 romances but maybe quite a few of those on audio? I really don't take too much notice of where my books are set, maybe I should add that in. Naturally many set in USA and often those southern states!

  14. I think it's fun knowing "where" you've read. I used to map out the settings of my books.
