What I Got:
The Lies We Tell by Debra Webb - I don't know much about this book or this author but the blurb caught my attention and it looks like a fun thriller. (Publisher)
Death on the Page by Essie Lang - I know nothing about this author but it looked like a fun series and after a few weeks of no new books I couldn't resist. (NetGalley)
Currently:
Reading: Buried in the Stacks by Allison Brook and Word to the Wise by Jenn McKinlay
Listening: Finished Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty and really enjoyed it and am now finishing up Rainy Day Sisters by Kate Hewitt.
Watching: Nothing right now but I just discovered that Netflix added a new season of The Great British Bake Off so that's pretty much my plan for the week.
Off the Blog:
This week I withdrew the Tornado from school and officially started the homeschool/online/blended school thing. I'm nervous but I think it'll be good. We had one official school day this week but it was still pretty low key and mostly we did reading. Next week will be a bit more demanding though.
Hopefully, as you're reading this I'm back home after successfully moving my grandparents from their home in another state to the assisted living program here. And hopefully my grandmother has already discovered the library and they're enjoying the farm to table restaurant quality food and my grandfather has met some of the other WWII vets that are residents and they're settling in beautifully. That's probably too much to ask but hopefully that's the direction we're moving in.

Best of luck to your grandparents as they settle in to the new place! hope it goes well. And good luck with the homeschooling/ blended school thing too. Have a great week. :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the home schooling, so hope it goes well. It will take a little time for your grandparents to adjust but hopefully it will work out well for them too. Laughing at your lack of books!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I think taking control of the kid's education is a smart thing and I hope it all goes really well for you. If I had kids, I'd do the same. I hope things work out well for your grandparents too!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with your grandparents' move. I bet they will settle in before long. As to the homeschooling, I imagine it will go well and your routine will adjust to it. It does give a lot more flexibility. I remember that we took a long vacation in early March one year - we were living in Oregon, but were back in Texas for my parents' 50th anniversary and then flew on to Florida to Disneyworld. Lots of fun and possible because we homeschooled.
ReplyDeleteDeath on the Page does sound like it will be good, doesn't it? I couldn't resist that one either. I hope you are enjoying Buried in the Stacks! I want to read that one too. I hope the move went well and your grandparents are settling in nicely. It will probably be a bit of an adjustment at first, but I do hope everything goes smoothly for your sake and theirs. Good luck with homeschooling! It's a big jump, but I am sure you are up for it. Have a great week, Katherine!

ReplyDeleteI hope your grandparents are settling into their new residence. I know that it takes a while to adapt.
ReplyDeleteBuried in the Stacks looks good, and I loved The Long Call.
Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Hope the home schooling goes well and that you got your grandparents moved without problems!
ReplyDeleteHope you are loving Word to the Wise! Love that series!
Have a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
I hope your grandparents have settled into their new location well - it sounds like there are things for both of them to enjoy. I'm sure it will be an adjustment - as all change is - but of the good kind.
ReplyDeleteOoo… Good luck with the home schooling!
A wonderful week to you & your family.
I started reading many of Debra Webb's books way back in 2006, and find her writing style with thrillers to be impressive. the Lies We Tell looks like a good one. Yay to getting grandparents all settled in. I agree, finding the library and eating some yummy food can make everything all better. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your grandparents are living close now! I hope they settle in quickly. 💜
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your homeschooling journey. I hope everything settles into a good routine smoothly. 👍✨
