This Week in Reading - April 23

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Nothing!  I don't think I even have any requests pending.  It's a strange mix of freedom and emptiness.  I'm hoping this means I"m going to keep working on shrinking that stack of review books.

Reading:  Pay the Piper by Patricia Wentworth, Til Death Do Us Part by Amanda Quick, and Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Listening: I just finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline so I'm listening to podcasts until I pick my next audio.

Watching:  We've been watching movies lately.  This weekend we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Rogue One.  I really enjoyed both (Monty Python is a multiple repeat) though they are VERY different.

Off the Blog:

It's been a pretty quiet week around here so nothing really to report other than being just flat out exhausted.  I'm not exactly sure what my problem is right now but all I want to do is go to sleep and I feel like I'm never caught up - it's like having an infant again without actually having an infant.
I've started a giant book cataloging process which is taking some time.  After my allergist informed me I was ridiculously allergic to dust mites I packed all the books I had crammed in corners and under my bed into totes and have been storing them in a guest room.  I hate not having them around and being able to look through them (though they were all crammed so tight it wasn't like that was all that possible) so I'm trying to add them all to this library app and label them by box number.  Basically it's letting me play with books while letting me feel like I'm accomplishing something!

On the Blog:

Have a great week and happy reading!

  1. Ooh Monty Python! I was a latecomer to that, I had friends in middle and high school who could practically recite all the lines ha ha, and I didn't get it, but I appreciate it more now. :)

Good luck with the cataloging, hope that goes well. And I know what you mean, it's important that we spend time with our books!

  2. Yay for no new books! Hopefully I will be able to say that next week. ;-) Sad when we celebrate getting no books. LOL

I hope you are enjoying 'Til Death Do Us Part. I look forward to reading your thoughts on Ready Player One.

I am sorry to hear you have been so tired. Hopefully it's some sort of bug that will pass and you'll be feeling better, more restful, soon. How fun to be going through all your books! I need to find time to do the same. Years ago, I had cataloged all my books on LibraryThing, but since then I've been through a major move where I gave away 500 books and have since had two more major book purges. It'd be nice to have a more accurate accounting for what books I actually own.

I hope you have a great week, Katherine!

  3. I'm impressed! That you managed to keep your shelves clean, I mean :D I picked up at least an ARC and maybe a purchase.. Keeping my eyes closed to that till the monthly recap time :D

Ready player one! Can't wait to get that one (actually, it's only on my wish list so far)

My week has also been exhausting! D: and allergy-filled. I hope the next one is better for both of us :)

  4. I need to do some book cataloging on my own!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!

  5. Huge respect for your self control - as for me - bah! I've as much restraint as a sugar-stoked toddler... Grapes of Wrath is a wonderful, if grim, read - hope you like it. Have a great week. My sunday Post -

  6. I have to say that I can't get away with Monty Pyton no matter how hard I try. My hubbie loves them. Cataloguing books sounds like quite a tax. Good luck and hoping you have more energy this week.

  7. Monty Python was something I just never could get Congrats on not getting anything and have fun with your book project.

    Week in Review

  8. Don't even get me started with Monty Python...I can recite lines word for word, I have seen that so many times I want to watch it again. You need to look up Lego Monty Python the castle scene where they sing. It's so funny.

What library app are you using? I really need to find something that helps me organize all my books.

Have a great week, Katherine! Happy Reading! ox

  9. Good for you for not adding anything! I need to do that. I have so many review books. Feeling the exhausted of having an infant without the infant sounds terrible. Hope you get more energy!! Have a great week!

  10. I hope you enjoyed Ready Player One. I thought that one was a lot of fun.

  11. Ugh! Allergies to dust mites are the worst. No way to avoid them unless you live with nothing in your house. And dusting to keep them from away only stirs up allergies. I've been known, when I'm tackling an area I haven't dusted in a while, to wear a mask but that's really irritating. Good luck with your project and I hope you can get the allergy under control.

  12. My Kryptonite is Amazon New Releases in e-book format, especially when I love the authors.

And I tell myself that it's all good, since the books are hiding on the device or in the Cloud.

    Delusional much?

But...I do appreciate that I no longer have toppling stacks around me, thanks to my Purges of 2015. Yeah, I named that process.

    Your cataloguing sounds impressive.

Enjoy your week, and hopefully you will get your energy back. You are obviously doing a lot more than you realize. That cataloguing alone would sap my energy.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  13. I've been void of energy this week, too, except I do have a toddler. I've been extra tired this past week though.
We just watched Rogue One recently and loved it. Monty Python were some of my favorites as a kid. They're definitely strange but funny. :)
    Have a great week!

  14. Yay to no new books! I always have trouble reducing my TBR pile. Have a great week ahead!

  15. Maybe wear a paper mask while cataloging your books? If you feel tired, you should rest. I know we mums are always go, go, go and don't realize how tired we are.

  16. I'm so sorry to hear about your allergies. My husband has had terrible problems with allergies this year. Maybe it's just something that is happening now. Maybe summer will be better?

These are the lengths I go to in order to acquire free books at a library conference. Yes, those are bruises on my arm and blood that dripped from my finger onto my conference schedule, both the result of carrying 325 books from the exhibit hall floor back five blocks to my hotel.

  17. Horrible to be allergic to dust. I can see how it is nice to handle all those books while stacking them away, but the view is part of it really with books. Hope the tiredness passes.

  18. I totally get the "flat out exhausted" as I'm feeling the same way. I started listening to Ready Player One a few years back but it just didn't do anything for me. Hope you have a great reading week!

  19. I remember going to see a special screening of Holy Grail at a local theatre with a friend in high school. Suffice it to say there weren't a lot of teenage girls in the audience! We also got to see Eric Idle's comedy tour, which was pretty fun!

  20. Your allergies could be affecting your energy levels. Good thinking with the book storing and cataloging! I was thinking about getting my old books out and photographing them for the blog and then reboxing them, but then I shudder. Ha ha. Have a wonderful new week. :)

  21. I feel the same way. I know my allergies are kicking my butt, evidence by two of my prescriptions going out and not wanting to deal with the rigmarole of trying to contact my doctors. (Seriously, tried to in Feb. and after two weeks I gave up.) I see my two work partners, who have small children, and I just keep thinking I'm barely hanging on taking care of myself and my things I need to do (and sometimes still not getting them all done). I'm allergic to everything (see: upcoming bullet journal post). Have fun cataloging your books!

  22. Oh no on the allergies. I do need to do like you at some point and sort all the books. I'm thinking when I get to redoing the craft room it's going to turn into a library as well.

good job on no new books! Again...I need to follow your lead!

  23. Yay for not adding any new books! I need to do that and focus on getting caught up...but it is so hard. Sorry you have been so tired. That happens to me at times. Have you had your thyroid checked? That is usually my problem and my meds need adjusting. Sorry you are also having allergy issues but playing with books sounds like fun!
