Friday Linkups: Three Act Tragedy

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice.

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Are you ever without a book?

My Answer:
At no point do I not have a book I'm in the process of reading.  Even when I finish 1 book I usually have another book going as well.  In terms of having a physical book with me at all times probably not.  If I'm going to be away from home for any length of time or if I go somewhere where I know I'll have to wait I always bring my Kindle but if I'm just out running errands I probably am bookless.  That's bitten me a few times!

For this week I'm back to Agatha Christie!  Three Act Tragedy is one of my favorites though it's been a long time since I've read it.  There's a whole host of interesting characters, motives galore, and complete lack of motives at other times.  Plus she structured it like a play which is really fun to read.

The Beginning:
Mr. Satterthwaite sat on the terrace of Crow's Nest and watched his host, Sir Charles Cartwright, climbing up the path from the sea.

My Thoughts:
Mr. Satterthwaite is one of my favorite Agatha characters.  While my favorite Satterthwaite book feature Harley Quin is still a fun treat to get to meet him much earlier in her writing.

The 56:
"Miss Sutcliffe has made a suggestion to us.  She suggested that the man had left the house through a secret passage."

My Thoughts:
Just the words secret passage sound magical!  If I ever build a house I'm putting a secret passage in it.  The question is is Miss Sutcliffe right?  And if not where did he go?

Would you keep reading?  Do you have a book with you at all times or only when you think there will be time to read?

  1. OK, for the first most 'important' question - do I always have a book with me? Practically always. I, too, have gotten bitten a few times. My Kindle is easy to slip in my purse and actually, I have the Kindle app on my phone, so I could read from it if necessary. I will say that I don't take a physical book with me too much anymore, but I used to.

It's been years since I read Three Act Tragedy. So long that I'm having a hard time remembering the story. That must mean it's time for a re-read, right? LOL

  2. I usually have a book with me. Going on a quick errand like to the grocery store might be the exception. I don't think I've read this Christie book. This week I am spotlighting Dragonseye by Anne McCaffrey which has been living on TBR mountain forever. Happy reading!

  3. I will always have a book with me. Even if that means just the kindle app on my phone instead of my actual kindle or a physical book. I hate being somewhere where I have to wait and not having a book. Typically I will carry a physical book if one fits in my purse. That is the defining characteristic sometimes. I wish they were still publishing more of those pocket paperbacks.

Admission time, I haven't read any Agatha Christi but she has always intrigued me. I totally agree that a secret passage would have to be in whatever house I might possibly build.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Ooh, it sounds delicious! I don't know how I've lived this long without reading an Agatha Christie...I am culturally deprived, I guess.

I love secret passages, and once lived in a house that had one. My kids had so much fun.

Thanks for sharing...and here's MY BOOKISH FRIDAY POST

  5. I am quite sure I have never actually read an Agatha Christie novel and must remedy that situation.

  6. These days I always seem to have four to five books on my currently reading shelf on Goodreads. How did I go from reading one to foure? :/
I'm the same, I always have the book I'm currently reading whenever I leave the house. Unless I'm just running errands. But than again I always have my phone with me and that has my Kindle app. So I guess technically I do always have a book with me. :D
    Happy reading!

  7. I think because of you I have the first book on my TBR. I can't read a series out of order. It bugs me. I usually tote my Kindle Paperwhite around with me. But I also have the Kindle app on my phone and sometimes I'm even lazy to walk to my bedroom to get my Kindle off of my dresser so I'll just read off of my phone.

  8. I hear you about being bitten at times. After those awful times of not having anything to do while waiting, a book comes with me no matter what.

    ENJOY your reading weekend.

    Happy Hopping!!

It's been so lang since I've read Agatha's books. Sounds like one I missed.

  11. I tend to carry a book most of the time, but there are times I'll leave it home, particularly if I know I won't get a chance to read. Then there are times I take it with me just in case. Although, I do always have my phone with me--and my Kindle and Nook app. So, you could say, therefore, that I truly am never without a book.

  13. I love the whole idea of a secret passage.I wish my condo had one.

I am never bookless. It used to be I always had a print book in my purse but now I always have my Kindle and my phone which has the Kindle app. I often have a print book and an ebook going at the same time but the print stays home. :D

  15. I pretty much always have a book with me even if I know I wont get time to read it. Books are like my security blanket.
I have read some Agatha Christie books but not this one. It sounds good. Happy Friday!

  16. Oh, I always carry my Kindle with me. I never want to be unprepared in case I have waiting time somewhere.

I want to get back to reading Agatha Christie. Her books are some of the best mysteries.

  17. Yes, it's been a while since you featured a book by her. I wonder why they didn't listen to the woman's suggestion before. Happy reading!

  19. I always have a book on the go and I always have either my kindle or my book either with me or nearby. And my phone loaded up with audio books too.
That AC book sounds great. And yes one secret passage for me too! :)

  20. It's so long since I read Three Act Tragedy that I've forgotten almost everything about it. I should see if the library has a copy...

I've always got at least one book going at a time, sometimes two or more. Right now it's only two - an ARC, and my daughter's first novel (second draft - beta reading.) And I almost always have one with me, unless I'm just popping out to the grocery store or going to church or something. If I'm not reading, I'm often listening to an audiobook (and I DO do that in the grocery store!)
