Living with Leukemia (and some Reading) - October 4

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

This week was a long one but I feel like I say that every week!  Will went inpatient this week for 2 nights for high dose chemo and a spinal tap/chemo combination.  It went well except for the fact they tried a new medicine to help with nausea after the procedure and it made him crazy loopy and then super groggy for the rest of the day and he was still nauseous. Prior to his Leukemia diagnosis Will had never really had much medicine.  He'd never needed antibiotics or anything stronger then an occasional over the counter allergy med so each new medicine has been a brand new experience.

We are going home this weekend for a short trip - mostly to change out clothes.  It's starting to get cold and I've been freezing the last few days!  I'm also going to trade out the books I've read and restock a bit.  It'll be like shopping but from my own books.  I'm kind of weirdly excited about it.  This week I think will be pretty relaxed which I'm super excited about.  We are worn out and a whole week without much going on sounds amazing!

Currently:

ReadingMurder on Cold Street by Sherry Thomas and Emily's Ghost by Denise Giardina

Listening:  Murder Go Round by Carol J Perry

Watching:  I ended up watching quite a lot of Friends in the hospital and enjoyed it quite a bit.  I forget how much I loved that show.  I like the earlier seasons best but it's a lot of fun.

How is your week going?  What are you reading?

  1. Friends is a fun show and something to take your mind away from everything. It sounds like some heavy medical things this week. Good to go home to change out things, I can imagine it would be quite exciting. I am sure you'll enjoy Murder on Cold Street.

  5. Sorry to hear that about Will, praying this week goes much better for him. My youngest son was in and out of the hospital for the first few years of his life so I understand what you're going through. HUGS!

  7. I'm glad you're getting a slower week and that you can go home for a visit to change out clothes and books. I hope they figure out how to help Will's nausea. That's rough. I hope this is a good week, Katherine.

  10. Sounds like you all need a more tranquil week. I hope the trip home goes well, and that this week brings all three of you a chance to rest and recharge a bit. Praying for Will to have an easier time with the medications, and a complete remission.

  11. I hope he is ok, he sounds sounds so resilient.

It will be strange going home after being away for so long but it’ll be nice to get those books swapped out!

    Have a good week.

  12. Sending you hugs! The loopy sounds light maybe it could have been fun at least? I hope he's feeling a bit better now and not nauseated.

I binge watched Friends a couple years ago. It's the perfect kind of show to watch when you want to just laugh and not think. Enjoy shopping in your own book and clothes collection 😁😂. Safe travels!

  13. I hope his next session goes smoother. Low key week; appointments to take care of business. Got the spuds in the oven and brown and white rices cooking in their respective cookers.

  17. Ugh, new medicine in those circumstances can feel like a bit of a lottery. He's doing so well and being really brave. x

  18. I am sorry the new medicines didn't sit well with Will. Hopefully this current phase he's in will prove to be successful overall though. You are all often in my thoughts. I hope you are enjoying your reading. I like Friends too. :-) I hope you have a great week!
