This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
What authors have you met and where?
My Answer:
I've really only met one and she was a regional author that focused on ghost stories and history. Her name was Kathryn Tucker Windham (she died several years ago) and she was absolutely fascinating. She traveled all over the South. Was a reporter in Montgomery, AL during the 1940s and was in Birmingham, AL and Selma, AL during the 1960s. I met her at a book signing when I was a kid and then saw her give a talk on local history that was sponsored by the local library.
This week's book is one I've really been looking forward to reading. I read the 2nd book in Lena Gregory's Bay Island Psychic Mystery (Occult and Battery) last year and immediately fell in love. When I was offered the newest book - Clairvoyant and Present Danger - there was no way I could resist!
The Beginning:
Cass propped her elbow on the driftwood countertop and rested her cheek on her hand. Only for a minute.
My Thoughts:
This is me right now. Just a little bit of a nap wouldn't hurt!

The 56:
Bee's voice screamed in her head. "Walk away, walk away. Never mind that. Run!"
My Thoughts:
I've watched enough scary movies and read enough mysteries that I know you should always do what the voice in your head is telling you to do. Especially if it's telling you to run!

ReplyDeleteSounds like a great cozy mystery. I'll have to look for the first one. I've met bunches of authors at book signings at area bookstores and at ALA. It is always a thrill. This week I have The Philosopher's Flight by Tom Miller. Happy reading!

Kathyrn Windham sounds very interesting. Often, authors do travel extensively, or research history extensively. Reading their works is a very appealing way to learn about history, or to armchair travel to other places. I wrote about meeting Nora Roberts and Jay Asher, altho I've met lots of other authors, as well.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice memory of meeting Ms. Windham! You know, if you went with me to Malice Domestic, you'd meet lots and lots of authors....ha! I have met many, not only at the two mystery conferences I've attended, but also at bookstore signings. Always a great highlight in my life. The book you featured sounds good. And, yes, if your mind is saying 'run away, run away', that is usually an indication that you should listen to it. LOL

This seems like an interesting book. I haven't heard of the series before so thanks for mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteI have only met one non-local author and that's Rod Serling's daughter, Anne, but she's an acquaintance so that doesn't quite fit either. I do hope to be able to go down to NYC for some sort of author events in the future though. There just never seems to be enough time. :P

You are the main reason I got into cozies ^__^. The Fortune Teller is historical fiction while The Black Witch was fantasy. I need to put the TFT author's other work on my TBR. I can't wait for the next book after The Black Witch to come out. I should put it on my calendar.
