This Week in Reading - November 19

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Nothing!  I got nothing!  I'm very proud of myself!

Currently:

Reading: Sweet Tea and Sympathy by Molly Harper and Greenglass House by Kate Milford

Listening: Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

Watching:  Not much though I'm hoping to get in some Hallmark Christmas movies soon!

Off the Blog:

A miracle has happened!  I have actually bought a Christmas present before Thanksgiving!  And it's the Tornado's primary gift so that's a huge relief.  I've also got some ideas for some people on my list that are always hard to buy for so I'm feeling pretty good about gift buying this year.

This past week was a bit crazy.  I got back in town on Wednesday and then the Tornado was home sick Thursday.  I'm feeling like I'm going to be scrambling a bit to get ready for Thanksgiving and it doesn't help that the Tornado will be out of school all week.   I'm not too sad that I won't have to get up early though.

We actually celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday so no one has to have 2 dinners in one day.  It makes for a more relaxed time because no one is having to duck out early or arrive late and we always have a lot of fun.  It also gives me an extra day which I'm clearly in need of this year.

On the Blog:

What Happened:

What's Coming Up:

Monday:  Ramblings from the Stacks - Tell Me What to Read
Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday - Ten Books I'm Thankful For
Wednesday:  Better Late Than Never - Cozy Mystery Review
Thursday: Sweet Tea and Sympathy - Review
Friday: Top Ten Christmas Books On My Shopping List
Saturday:  TBD

Have a great week and happy reading!

  8. Another week of no new books - yay! I've barely started Christmas shopping... another year my "be done by Thanksgiving" goal won't happen ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  9. I'm a huge procrastinator when it comes to buying Christmas gifts, too. It seems like I'm ALWAYS scrambling to find the perfect gift at the last minute. Congrats to you for getting started "early"!

  10. Impressive you picked up nothing. I don't think I have ever gone a week without adding at least a few books in years. Every year I say I will plan ahead but I never do. One of these years I'll get all my shopping done early. Have a great week!!! Happy holidays.

  11. Well I grabbed enough for both of us and I don’t know why, so many books are coming up due and I brought home (and checked out in eReader). Seven books! Friday for Thanksgiving sounds good. We usuaygo to Doug’s father’s home for the day but since he died in August we are making other plans.

Great that you bought a gift already, it’s always fun shopping for kids.

  15. We end up doing two Thanksgivings...On the actual day with my daughter and her in-laws...and then Saturday at a restaurant for out-of-towners. That event will be smaller this year, due to more people scattered throughout the state and the world. Sigh.

Enjoy your week...it is great to have a week of sleeping later.

Congrats on the Christmas shopping you've done. I'm a lazy shopper...but actually my grandkids all seem to prefer the gift cards I always give them.

Sweet Tea and Sympathy looks tempting. Enjoy...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  18. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! I’ve been Christmas shopping, too. I’d rather get it done early than procrastinate to the last minute. Less stress that way.

  19. I really enjoyed the audio for Scrappy Little Nobody! I'm a big Anna Kendrick fan in general, but found myself liking her even more after that one. Good call on spreading the Thanksgivings out - we have three this year and I'm super grateful they're all on different days. Not sure how I'd eat all that Turkey otherwise! Happy reading and hope you have a great Thanksgiving, Katherine!

  20. Yay for starting the Christmas shopping! I've got Mouse's Santa gift covered, but am trying to decide what to get her from us. My one idea I've decided to put off until her birthday in March. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  24. I'm not sad about sleeping in this week, either. It's SO nice. We'll be doing Wednesday since The Man has to go police on Thanksgiving. We'll have deliciousness to eat all week long.

  25. Have a lovely Thanksgiving celebration - I always prefer it when we have everyone over on Boxing Day, instead of Christmas Day, it always seems more relaxed somehow... I hope Tornado is fully recovered and that you enjoy your more relaxed mornings this week.

  26. Yay for getting some shopping done! Years ago we did a "Fakesgiving" when we couldn't be together for actual Thanksgiving and it was so much more fun and less stressful. Hope yall enjoy your day!

  28. Thanksgiving is nice but it can be so stressful. I am going to throw a roast in the crock pot and just keep it quiet this year. Have a great holiday!
