Linking up with The Caffeinated Book Reviewer to talk about this past week and the week that's coming up!
This Week:
The beach trip is over and I am glad to be home! No matter how great a vacation is that first night of being at home with your own stuff and your own bed is absolute heaven. Everyone had a lot of fun and I'm going to subject you to a few photos - but just a few!
Probably my favorite that I took of the Tornado and J
Baby tigers may be the cutest thing ever
The morning we were first there the beach was all moody and picturesque. Luckily after a trip to the zoo it wasn't as pretty but much more fun to play in!
I managed to get some reading done despite having all 4 of my kids around and assorted other family members. Reviews will be up starting tomorrow for those. Oddly enough despite having a list full of books I planned to read at the beach only 1 off that list actually got read!
It's been so fun to come back and see everyone's Top Ten Lists and Friday 56s and everything!
I also got a LibraryThing account to attempt to organize my books a little better. I like the layout quite a lot and how it categorizes so far but I'm still playing around with it.
On the Blog:
Monday: Twelfth Night by Deanna Raybourn
Tuesday: Top Ten Books I've Read This Year
Wednesday: The Phantom of Fifth Avenue by Meryl Gordon
Thursday: Off my TBR shelf - Old Haunts by E.J. Copperman
Friday: Lots of linkups! - Book Blogger Hop, Book Beginnings and Friday 56
Next week is the beginning of the COYER Summer Challenge which I'm really excited about. I also have reviews for Nora Roberts' Collector, an interesting YA book and a review for a British police procedural that came off my TBR shelf. Also, look for my Top Ten list on Tuesday, my Friday linkups and my Spring Favorites post on Saturday.
Happy Reading!
Oh, I really need to get to the beach...and I'm only two hours away, so what's stopping me? LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the week...here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES POST
I probably wouldn't get to the beach much either. For me 2 hours away might as well be 6 or 7!
DeleteIt's been years since I've been to the beach ! I'm glad you enjoyed, the pics are lovely :) To organize my books, I use Goodreads but I'd like a software on my computer, maybe Calibre, I'm thinking about it. Have a great week and enjoy coming back to your home ;)
ReplyDeleteI use goodreads too but I have so much on it it's a little bogged down. I probably should spend more time just trying to figure out how to use what I've already got!
DeleteThere's nothing like a week at the beach, but I agree that's always a treat to fall into your own bed that first night back. Thanks for sharing a few photos!
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a great week! Though I'm glad to be home to my stuff. Plus I missed everyone else's reviews!
DeleteGlad you enjoyed your vacation! I love the beach and have lived within proximity of it for most of my life. I would be interested in Twelfth Night and that cover is gorgeous. Also wondering about The Collector, on my wishlist now. Enjoy your week and being home at last.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Calibre works for print books; it's intended for organizing and cataloging ebooks and moving them on and off your e-reader. For print books, you might take a look at Book Collector by Collectorz. (It's got a handy smartphone app, too, so you can keep your book list with you, assuming you have a smartphone.)
DeleteThanks! Twelfth Night is good but definitely start earlier in the series. I enjoyed The Collector. Definitely worth a read.
DeleteLark - I'll have to look at Calibre but I'm not sure I'd like it if it's just for e-books. I have a hard enough time remembering them as it is so I want them in the same place as the print books.
Sounds like a great beach trip! I use Goodreads to keep track of my reading -- I was on LibraryThing, and there are some things I really liked about it, but I find Goodreads easier to use. I have a cataloging program on my computer, too, but I haven't gotten all my hundreds (no, probably thousands) of books cataloged yet. (It's Book Collector, in case you're wondering.) And I use Calibre for the ebooks. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe had a good time! Everyone's the right age to really have fun in their different ways. I use Goodreads too but I think I've bogged it down too much. I'll have to look at Book Collector. I probably should spend sometime figuring out how to use Goodreads better too!
DeleteLooks like a great trip! I was just saying yesterday that I need a vacation - haven't been to a beach (which is the only real vacation in my book!) since 2010! That's too long! And that baby tiger was just adorable :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to COYER too! So glad you're joining us, can't wait to see what books you knock out :)
It's been awhile since we've had a vacation too! Now I'm dying to do some more day trips and stuff. I forget how much fun it is. 2010 is definitely too long!
DeleteI'm excited about COYER. Hopefully I can make some serious progress.
Nice photos! As a kid we would go to the beach every summer. I miss it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had a good time!
DeleteThe beach looks like it was so much fun. I think the beach is just about the best place for a vacation. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had such a good time but it's always good to get settled back into routines.
DeleteThe beach trip looks and sounds wonderful. I want to go! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
You should go! There's nothing like a beach vacation.
DeleteI need to head over to the beach again soon. Glad you guys had a nice time, but yeah, sometimes it feels so good to be home.
ReplyDeleteOh you should. It was so much fun! Definitely good to be back home and not covered in sand though!
DeleteLove the pictures. The first one is a terrific pic. Glad to hear that you all had a great time. Looking forward to your review for The Collector. I actually had it reserved at the library but knew I wouldn't have time to read it this month so I put myself at the back of the line. Maybe by the time my turn comes around again I will be caught up. :) Have a terrific week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had a great time! Is there such a thing as caught up? :) I enjoyed it and even though it's fairly long it was a pretty fast read for me.
DeleteWe wanted to get to the beach today, but the weeds won. The tiger is so cute I thought it was stuffed! Thanks for coming by!
ReplyDeleteThe tiger was adorable! He was playing with a water bottle and looked like a giant kitten. I just wanted to hug him but since his paws were bigger than my head it probably wouldn't have been a good idea!
DeleteYes I agree, now matter how good the holiday your own bed always feels like heaven and baby Tigers are the cutest. Nice pictures. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteSharon
Thank you! We had a good time!
DeleteLooks like a great vacation, love being by the ocean! And yes, it is always nice to be home afterwards. :) Nice Top Ten list too- several of those look good, and I had no idea The Birds was based on a short story.
ReplyDeletei'm looking forward to COYER too, it's coming up fast!
Thanks! I wasn't aware that the movie was based on the book until I came across it on NetGalley awhile ago. It's really great - better than the movie in my opinion.
DeleteBeach vacation! I love beach vacation (: But I totally agree, nothing beats going getting to sleep in your bed! I don't have LibraryThing, might need to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHope you have an awesome week!
It was a lot of fun but definitely good to be home! I like how LibraryThing has all the covers laid out but haven't played with enough to know. I like Goodreads but I think I need to clear it out a bit.
DeleteLove the baby tiger! Looks like that was a nice getaway! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!

Thanks! We had a great time!
DeleteCute tiger cub :) I'm glad you enjoyed your beach time and I can't wait to see what you thought of The Collector.
ReplyDeleteHe was adorable. We had a great time. I liked The Collector though it reminded me a bit of Three Fates which I liked better.
DeleteAwe it looks like you had a blast and that tiger is too cute! Good luck with Coyer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had such a good time!
DeleteWhat a fabulous week you had. I love going to the beach in early June, before it gets crowded with vacationers. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice not to have it be too jammed. Where we go is a little off the beaten path so we're not battling people for beach spots but it can't definitely make quite the wait at the restaurants! We had a great time.
DeleteI really miss living near the beach and I am super jealous that you got that close to a tiger.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Thanks! We had a good time and the tiger was adorable. I could have reached out and petted him but he might have decided to play with my fingers and I like having 10!
DeleteLove the photos! My daughter's been asking to go to the beach and so I imagine we'll have to drive out to the coast one day soon. I hate the crowds in the summer though. I need to find a quiet beach. Does one exist in Southern California in the summer? I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteWe are taking a couple months off from soccer and I told my husband these means we have to plan to do some fun Saturday activities besides just hanging at the park.
Your pictures are very enticing. I agree that the first night back in your own bed is just so cozy though. But sometimes I wish I could be on a perma-vaca. Lol.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks like you had a beautiful and relaxing time. I especially want to steal the baby tiger.
Enjoy your week!

I love your pictures! I agree, that first night home is always fantastic. I can't wait to head to the cottage and go in the lake. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Sunday Post
