This Week in Reading - August 26

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Thread Herring by Lea Waite - I LOVE this series but am so behind on it.  However, this one involves a tattered coat of arms and a secret document from 1757 involving a foundling child.  I'm so in!  (NetGalley)

Santa Puppy by Lynn Cahoon - I love the Tourist Trap series and so there was no way I could pass this one up.  (NetGalley)

The Body in the Attic by Judi Lynn - The title sounds like a Nancy Drew book and there's a skeleton that's identified by a locket.  Of course I needed this one!  (NetGalley)

Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis - I love Jill Shalvis and I've been loving this series so I'm really looking forward to this one.  (Edelweiss)

Reading:  The Guests on South Battery by Karen White and Second Chance at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer

Listening:  Speaking from Among the Bones by Alan Bradley but I'm almost done and I'm going to get back to Written in Red by Anne Bishop

Watching:  We watched Jaws last night.  Somehow I've gone my whole life without ever seeing it!

Off the Blog:

This has been a very quiet week.  We are getting back in the habit of school and all that.  J hasn't had to travel this week though he may be heading out again soon.  I'm getting excited because I made the final arrangements for our trip to Disney World in October.  We were just there last year but I think I'm even more excited to go back!

I've started a good exercise routine mixing in YouTube exercise videos (I discovered the playlist function and it's been on) and interval running.  I have some old injuries especially a damaged ankle so I'm taking the running thing very slowly and carefully but so far I'm really enjoying it.  Any tips or warnings for new runners?

  1. The Body in the Attic DOES sound like a Nancy Drew book! And Jaws- I think I've only seen it once, years ago. I don't remember much except for the confrontation at the end... I'm trying to convince myself to splurge on The Meg, which seems like a waste of money but maybe a FUN waste of money lol?

    Yay for Disney World!

  2. Oh, yes, very tempting books, especially The Body in the Attic. The Shalvis book looks good, too. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the new exercise routines.

  3. Dinsey World sounds exciting. I've never been but it's on my bucket list!
I'm curious about The Body in the Attic. It sounds like a fun mystery novel.
    Have a good week!

  4. I think I might have to add these cozy mysteries/authors to my tbr pile! Disney is going to be so much fun, esp in October!

  5. Katherine how do you do a playlist, I don't know how to do it, but that's fantastic using Youtube. I was actually thinking of using YT workouts this morning. How are you finding it?

  6. Some new and good looking cozies mixed in there! I will live my whole life through and will not miss seeing Jaws! I so loved the Anne Bishop series.

  7. Thread Herrings sounds fun - I'm a sucker for a punning title!
On the running, my advice: if it suddenly hurts, STOP! Don't be brave or just try and get home. I managed to knacker both my calf muscles so no more running for me :-(

  8. Disney World!!! We were there last October and are desperate to go back. I hope you have a wonderful time.

  9. Quiet weeks are good! Yay for finalizing Disney plans. We are heading back in February and coming up dining plan time. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  10. Glad everyone is adjusting to the back to school routine. I haven't watched Jaws in ages... wonder how it would seem to me now. October is a great time to visit Disney!

  11. I am getting so excited for the Christmas reads. Santa Puppy sounds so cute.
We are going to Florida next year and hope to go to Harry Potter since I haven't been there yet.

I am looking forward to the routine of school again, I think I can better handle it this year.

Enjoy all your books, Have a great week, Katherine! Happy Reading!

  12. You got some great ones! I am sure now that you know what Disney is like it's more exciting to go back and see things you didn't get to see and maybe some old favorites. :) Take me with :)

Have a great week and happy reading!
    Week in Review

  13. Santa Puppy sounds like my kiddo would love it. She loves any books with dogs in it. I hope you have a great week of reading. We loved Disney and went there a few years ago. I still want to go back! Haven't had the chance yet.

    Mary my Sunday Roundup 33!

  14. Oh yay for the new reads. Hope you enjoy the Shalvis!

  15. I say for running, you need the best shoes for your feet and running style. Going to get fitted at a running store is important, something I need to do for just power walking. And stretches. Stretching is important as we get older. Oh, + a gait like inhaling through your nose down to your stomach three steps and exhaling out for two so there is no consistency with your running gait. This prevents injury.
Ooh!!! I'm so jealous you're going to Disney World! We will get there some day.
I'm thinking of going back to yoga on Thursday mornings. I've been planking a minute after my first glass of water for the day in the mornings.

  16. I'm a walker, not a runner. Good luck. I agree about getting the best fitting shoes possible.
Looking forward to the new Shalvis!

  17. Good luck with the running! I did Couch to 5K, and it worked for me. I’m envious that you get to go to Disney. I want to see that someday.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  18. Santa Puppy sounds good! It sounds like you are easing back into everything. Homework starts this week, so we'll see how we do fitting everything in around it. Your new work out plan sounds great. I wish you luck with it! Have a great week!

  19. I'm behind in Lea Waite's series too. Thanks for reminding me to get back to it. Fall is coming and I love series during the cooler seasons. And quiet weeks are nice. Especially before the mad race of school starting. LOL

    My Sunday Post

  20. I love the excitement of getting ready for a holiday! Our family were supposed to go to Orlando quite a few years back but we had to cancel which was disappointing. I doubt that we'll ever go now so I'm jealous!

  21. The back to school adjustment was always a tough one. Loving your new books. Enjoy Katherine

  22. Definitely take that running at a slow start. I'm glad your ankle is doing better.
We haven't been to Disney World since the late 1980's !! I know you'll have fun.

  23. I love quiet weeks! Good for you on the running. In my mind, I would love to run but if I try I figure out really quickly that I suck at it. Yay for planning your trip to Disney! Have a great week!

  24. My suggestion for running is... DON'T DO IT! Ha ha. In all seriousness I think power walking or fast walking are better. There is less stress on the joints. 🏃

I hope you are having a wonderful week. 🌞

  25. I've been using Youtube for couponing and entertainment news lately, and never thought about using it for exercise. I'm glad you passed that on, and I'm going to check it out later today. Thanks! Kudos on the Disney World Trip, and don't forget to look for cats who are hiding from guests! Hugs and Happy Wednesday! RO

  26. The first time we went to Disney World was before we had kids (got a free trip when we bought a car) and we both enjoyed it a lot. Just so many interesting things to see, do, and eat.
