It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
The Plot and the Pendulum by Jenn McKinlay - I'm so excited about this one. Not only is this one of my favorite cozy series but the plot sounds fantastic. (Publisher)

Listening: Madam, Will You Talk? by Mary Stewart
This was another fairly calm week. Will's numbers were good and he's feeling pretty good. He was actually able to go to a forensic science lab with other kids Thursday. He was pretty worn out after but I think he had a lot of fun. It's been the first time in almost a year that he's been able to go to something like that so it was exciting and feels like a big step towards getting back to normal. 21 weeks left of treatment!
We are halfway done with Rover's Obedience class. I think we are going to take Agility fundamentals and Scent work next and hold off on competition level obedience until he gets a bit older and a bit calmer. He'll be 1 next month and I want to wait until he's about 2 for that.
I've been really enjoying volunteering for puppy and obedience class training and going to continue volunteering on some other dog related things. Will is going to start school again on Tuesday. We were going to start on August 1st but he was in the hospital and then we were going to start mid-August but a lot of his friends were still out of school so I gave in and let him wait. I've done some revamping on our curriculum. He will be finishing up Medieval history and getting caught up on math fundamentals so that he can start American history and algebra next year. For literature I want to just really focus on finding books he enjoys reading. I've got a mix of classics and modern books to start with and am really excited.
Have a great week and happy reading!
Jenn McKinlay's book looks fun. I always say I want to try her cozies- one of these days I actually will!
ReplyDeleteGlad Will did well. Hope this is a good week too! And 21 weeks- awesome!
Have a great Labor Day :)
I snagged The Plot and the Pendulum as well this week!
ReplyDeleteGlad WIll's week was a good one and that he was able to get out to a fun group activity as well. It sounds like you have lots of good and interesting school plans in the work and, I'm glad that Rover's training is going well. Hope you have a good week for books as well.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that he got to go to a group activity! Fantastic! We were going to start back earlier as well, but... we decided to wait until his cousin was going back. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI miss reading cozies. Yours look good, and the titles are so clever.
ReplyDeleteGood news about Will, and how great to count down the days until the end of treatment.
ReplyDeleteThose books look so good! I need some good cozies. Enjoy, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
Glad that Will's numbers are good. Those books look good. I need to look into those series - just need to find the time!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have a good week next week!

The Plot and the Pendulum does sound good. I hope you enjoy that and your current reads!
ReplyDeleteI am glad Will was able to go to the science lab. It sounds like a great opportunity--and he loved being able to be a part of that. I am glad your volunteering is going well and hope you and Will have a great school year.
I'm so glad Will is feeling better and his numbers are good. I like the look of A Good Dog's Guide to Murder
ReplyDeleteI do want to get to Jenn McKinlay's series at some point. I am glad that Will's numbers were good enough that he was able to go to an event with other kids. I hope that you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi there Katherine! Oh I loved Madame Will you Talk! Please let me know who does the auditory recording?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you guys had a good week and that you and Roger enjoy puppy school. Anna needs to start with her puppy school this month and I can't wait. She is soooo cute, but more than a hand full!
Have a great week ahead and take care!

I'm so glad Will is doing better and the treatment time is getting shorter. I think that sounds reasonable to wait on the other Obedience class for Rover and do something more energetic like Agility. I hope it's a good week with schooling.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Again here I am in awe. Honestly. Sounds like a great day for Will. All the best with the restart of schooling when you begin. It's a big job and will Will not well that must be hard at times. Still I get the interest you take in it and it would be stimulating for you. I love helping my great nephew (dyslexic for sure) with his reading, but I only can see him once a week. But I love preparing for it.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear that Will is progressing well - what a huge step that he was able to go on a trip. I recall when he first got sick and my shock at what a very long road he had ahead of him to beat this horrible illness. It is wonderful to see that your are now able to start to plan for his recovery:)). As for Rover - I can't believe that he is now nearly one and I think it's great you have persevered with his Obedience class - they are a lovely breed, but very bouncy when young and I just wish more owners would take the responsible option. Have a peaceful, enjoyable week, Katherine:)).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Will was able to go and had a good time. Hopefully, he was able to rest afterward and get his strength back up. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, thanks for answering my question when you commented on my blog last week. I really did want to know all of that. I'm sorry Will can't really take anything when he's in pain since he's allergic to morphine.
I hope you and your family have a great week and that Will continues to improve! :D
