It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
Mrs. Jeffries Delivers the Goods by Emily Brightwell - I loved the previous Mrs. Jeffries mystery and am super excited to continue with the series. (Publisher)
The Elegance of a Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery - I've been wanting to read this one for awhile so I couldn't resist picking it up. (Used Bookstore)
A Whisker of Trouble by Sofie Ryan - I like this series and haven't read this one. (Used Bookstore)
Silent Killer by Beverly Barton - No idea why this one ended up in my bag but the cover was spooky and I'm on a romantic suspense kick at the moment. (Used Bookstore)
The Blue Last by Martha Grimes - I used to love the Richard Jury series and this is either one I haven't read or don't remember. (Used Bookstore)
Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters - Audible is having a sale on first books in a series and this is one I've been wanting to reread. (Audible)
Heart of Evil by Heather Graham - Not the first in a series but I had a credit and I enjoyed listening to the first book and I've loved the later ones. (Audible)
Second Sight by Amanda Quick - Another first book in the series and another series I've been wanting to read for awhile. (Audible)

Currently:
Reading: Flowers in the Rain by Rosamunde Pilcher and Old Bones by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles
Listening: I tried The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware again and ended up DNFing it for now. It's good but I'm just not feeling it right now. I switched to Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts which is a little silly but a lot of fun.
Watching: I watched Chronicle Mysteries on Hallmark and really enjoyed it!
Off the Blog:
It's been a crazy week here with constant raining. I have no idea how many inches we've gotten because the rain gauge has overflowed but given that all the rivers and creeks are seriously overflowing I'm guessing it's a lot. Several nearby school districts have cancelled school because so many roads are flooded. It's crazy but it does look like it's going to stop raining soon. There are rumors that the sun may come out but I'll believe it when I see it.
I went bookstore shopping and had a wonderful time. As you can see above I found a few treasures. The Tornado had a birthday party at a skating rink this week which is officially my least favorite kind of birthday party. I didn't like skating as a kid and it turns out I don't like having to sit through the parties as an adult! I'm always a bit in awe of those people who can just effortlessly skate around with no problems!

Have a great week and happy reading!
I went skating a while back and figured I'd be good, surely it's like writing a bike right? You never really forget? Um, it was a little more complicated than that lol!
ReplyDeleteCrocodile on the Sandbank sounds great- I want to read those Elizabeth Peters books one of these days. And I've looked at the Mrs. Jeffries books a few times too- I think I almost bought the Christmas one a couple Christmases ago but never did. I may get to them one of these days!
I loved The Death of Mrs. Westaway...and Rosamunde Pilcher is one of my long-favorite authors. I haven't read Flowers in the Rain, but I want to add it to my list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and have a great week.
We had that rain Thursday and Friday, so I can relate. We just watched Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House about a month ago (I've been converting my daughter to a Cary Grant fan and we've been watching them all). I'll have to go check out your post.
ReplyDeleteHave a great, and hopefully sunny, week!
Tressa @ Wishful Endings
Wow that's a lot of incoming books, promising some happy reading. Nice to see a R Pilcher book being read. Think I have that one, so long since I read anything by her, really I should do a reread of one of them though.
ReplyDeleteYour new books sound good, Katherine! I hope you'll enjoy them all.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
I can't skate either-I just have no balance!
ReplyDeleteI love ice-skating! I don't get to do it much (usually just around Christmas) but I always have fun.
ReplyDeleteThe rain sounds a bit much! Rain is awesome but when it's flooding, I always get twitchy. Fingers crossed you get some dry weather this week!
Skating party sounds fun. I have never had the chance to skate as a kid so I guess I would sit out as well. I hate when rain spoils the day.
ReplyDeleteGayathri @ Elgee Writes
It's been a rainy winter here in Texas. It floods here during hurricanes and tropical storms. Here's hoping the rain stops there.
ReplyDeleteI loved Hedgehog but it's very, very French. I hope you will enjoy it.

I haven't been skating in so long. I wonder if I would be fall if I did it again, I am sure I would be in pain lol. I miss having roller skating parties. :) Now Ice Skating, I can't do that at all.
ReplyDeleteWeather is just crazy.
Enjoy all your new books!!!
Have a great week, Katherine! Happy Reading!
Skating parties weren't a favorite of mine either when my kids were in grade school, Katherine. There seemed to be a lot of them in our area so I went to lots of them.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're getting so much rain. I feel that way with the snow, but at least we have a few sunny (cold) days in between the snow days!
Hope you have a better week!
I am so sick and tired of rain! We have had a lot of it too! You got some great looking books! Sofie Ryan's series is really good! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Week in Review
Nice collection of reads. I wish we could get some rain. It is so very hot here.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been ice skating in years—not since Robin was about 8. I loved it as a child, but I was a bit wobbly as an adult! I see that your bookstore trip netted you some good books. One of these days, I'll have time to go to town and visit the bookstores again! I hope the rain lets up soon. Ours lifted this morning; the sky is a gorgeous blue and I am loving it.
ReplyDeleteWe read some of the same series. I love Richard Jury - I've read them all and I'm thinking about a collection on audio because STEVE WEST!! I'm listening to the Heath Graham Krewe of Hunters as I am able to get them. And last but not least I read and loved all the Elizabeth Peters' series.
ReplyDeleteIce or roller skating? I love both and have my own skates for both. When I was a Big Sister in the program, they gave me the girl they did because they said I would need to be on skates to keep up with her. hehe They didn't know the Energizer Bunny couldn't keep up with me in those days.
I am done with rain. The predicted sun is here and I am revived! Anne - Books of My Heart
It is always bad with a weather forecast, never right and never with good news. Hope your rumors about sun turn out to be true.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind skating but I'm not really that good at it. I hope the rain ends for you soon. Hope you like the new books you got!
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful new books! I thought The Elegance of the Hedgehog was wonderful on audio, but I might have gotten bogged down with some of the more philosophical passages in print. Crocodile on the Sandbank is in my audible shopping cart... there might still be a few hours left on that sale ;-) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI still have The Elegance of a Hedgehog sitting on my Netgalley shelf! 😱 I see it's by a woman author, so I should try and get it read next month. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI hope you get dry weather soon! 💦
I hear you with the rollerskating! I could ice skate, but never rollerskate. Weird. 😛
Have a wonderful week. 🌞
We have gotten quite a bit of rain too. And with the freezing temperatures, a lot of ice too. Some of the desert schools in the county were closed because of flooding in their areas too. My daughter was disappointed she still had to go to school. I haven't been skating in so many years! I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a great week, Katherine!
ReplyDeleteIt's been raining a lot where we live too, although we haven't gotten any flooding. I hope the weather gets better for you.
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Isn't it so fun to go book shopping? Hallmark continues to impress with those mystery series. My faves are still Aurora Teagarden, and Darrow and Darrow. By the way, did you hear that Trading Spaces is coming back for the new season on March 16? Can't wait! We had lots of rain here in NC too, which looks like it finally ended yesterday. Hope you're getting in some rest. Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI received the Emily Brightwell book from the publisher too. I haven't read any of the books in this series, but it does look like a good one. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI liked having skating parties. The mess was not at my house and there was a definite time when everything would be over. We have had other parties that never seem to end! I am jealous of your used book shopping. I don't think that there are any used bookstores left in my area which makes me sad. I hope you have a good week and get the chance to see the sun.
ReplyDeleteWe have been getting a lot of rain as well, but not to the point of flooding. We do have a little creek in the woods that shows up when it rains hard and I love it.
ReplyDeleteI used to love ice skating as a kid, I don't think I could do it now though.
Hope you get to see the sun this week!
Second Sight by Amanda Quick begins one of my favorite series. The Arcane Society and the books in the series are written by her as Quick, Krentz and Castle. It is confusing figuring out the order..so always check with her website. Happy listening!
ReplyDeleteYay for going to the bookstore and wow, road flooding? We don't have that luck here and so school is always on, LOL.
