Goodreads: A Dollhouse to Die For by Cate Price
Blurb: At an estate auction, Daisy is delighted to find the perfect present for a young girl she knows—a charming dollhouse in need of restoration. But when local collector Harriet Kunes tries to strong-arm Daisy into selling it, she’s in for a shocking—and deadly—surprise.
After an intruder breaks in and tries to steal the dollhouse, Daisy wonders why everyone has developed such an obsession over it. As she builds her collection of clues, she suspects that the miniature Victorian holds the key to a second unsolved murder, and soon she stumbles across much more than she bid on…
Why It Needs to Come Off the Shelf: I have been super into both cozies and antiques and I've always loved dollhouses so this is like the perfect trifecta of my favorite things at the moment.
What books are calling to you from your shelf?
I always wanted a huge dollhouse like that one on the cover but mine was a two rooms on two floors cheap wooden thing!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that one. I had a dollhouse as a young girl, but I think it was made out of metal and had plastic furniture. Ha! Have you ever read THE DOLLHOUSE MURDERS by Betty Ren Wright? I just looked and see there is a 35th anniversary edition - my daughter loved it and it's a book I read to her when she was in elementary school. It's a junior fiction book.
ReplyDeleteOoh, sounds good! I do occasionally like cozies, and my husband built a dollhouse for our eldest years ago. I'm looking at Kay's comment above, and see The Dollhouse Murders mentioned. My eldest read every title by Betty Ren Wright and also ordered a few paperbacks from Ebay for her daughter not that long ago.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun cozy!
ReplyDeleteBooks from the backlog, what a great idea! I think on my shelf coming up soon will be the second book in the Shetland series. I would like to finish that series this year. Thanks for the kick/reminder.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a dollhouse for my granddaughter. Have a chance to play with toys :-)
They don't make dollhouses that way anymore, do they? This sounds like it will be a good one. I haven't read this series yet.
ReplyDeleteOther than a few Nancy Drew books, I don't think I've ever read a mystery novel before. It's on my list of genres to explore this year. This sounds like a good book and I love the cover!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of dolls and dollhouses, and when they are part of a mystery, even better. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so good and I've not tried this author yet. Thanks for steering me to her. I used to have a doll house. I wonder what became of it.
