It's Friday linkup time! I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice
This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you take notes about the book you're reading as you read?
My Answer:
Not really. If there is a particular detail I know I want to remember for a review - normally a particular spelling or location - I might right it down but that's about it.
This week's book is Death of a Neighborhood Scrooge by Laura Levine. This is a new to me author but I couldn't resist this one when I read the blurb. There's a former child star and some tie ins to A Christmas Carol. Plus, I've been loving the cozy Christmas mysteries this year!
The Beginning:
I blame Connie Van Hooten for everything.
My Thoughts:
I like this beginning! Just who is Connie Van Hooten and what is this everything that she needs to be blamed for?
The 56:
Ah, yes. What's a missing éclair compared to the joy of watching Lydia's face when she opens her Secret Santa gift and sees those Yakity Yak false teeth chattering away?
My Thoughts:
I think I'd still be hung up on the missing éclair! Who can get past a missing éclair no matter how much joy is floating around?
So what do you think? Keep reading?
I don't take notes when I read, but I do usually write my thoughts for a blog post pretty quickly if I'm doing one. By the way, I don't always write a post about every book I read. I also put the title, author, date finished, etc., in my book journal right away. Otherwise, off and away it goes. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of this one! Thanks for sharing. I also take notes, especially if there are strange names and interesting details.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine:
”THE THREE BETHS”
I highlight when I'm reading on my Kindle and dog ear print arcs if there are things I want to remember. Otherwise, I don't take notes. Your book sounds like a lot of fun. This week I am featuring Lies Sleeping by Ben Aaronovitch - an urban fantasy from my review stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI don't take notes either, but I do need to because I never get around to writing the reviews right away.
ReplyDeleteI want to read something Christmasy this year. Perhaps this would fit the bill. My quotes are from HEY, KIDDO a graphic memoir.
ReplyDeleteIs that Father Christmas dead? lol Sounds fun...
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday post, and I'm carrying on with the madness of posting mostly non-fiction all month, and actually really enjoying it!
Death of a Neighborhood Scrooge would be a great read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge I'm hosting, so I'd definitely keep reading.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't really take notes much either when I'm reading. Hope you have a great weekend. - Katie
LOL @ the 56. Sounds like a fun holiday read!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI used to take notes as I read, and while I sometimes will highlight or make a note somewhere if it's a print book, it's not as common for me now. Sometimes I think I should, given I'm not always so quick to get to writing my reviews! I hope you love Death of a Neighborhood Scrooge. I would like to read that one as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks very seasonally appropriate. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteLoos fun. Love the cat there. :) And the beginning too.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes take notes when I read- just depends on the book I guess. Like you said, usually if I want to remember something for the review- or the sequel.
That's a great question about taking notes. I definitely take notes when reading nonfiction. For fiction books I'm reviewing I find ideas come to me about my upcoming reviews after I've finished and digested a portion of the book and usually when I'm in the car.
ReplyDeleteChristmas cozies are fun. Like warm cookies with milk.
When it comes to
I'm late in getting my review of this one done. But her books are so fun. And yes, I sometimes take notes.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with taking notes.
ReplyDeleteI like that opening too. Sounds like great things to follow.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this book. I sometimes takes notes, but not as often as I should. When I do my reviews are so much better. See what book I'm featuring this week at Girl Who Reads
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely intrigued and wouldn't mind checking this out.
ReplyDeleteI don't take notes either; though sometimes I will jot down a page number to refer back to when I'm writing a review.
