It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
Nothing! It was kind of a weird week but somehow I ended up with no new books. I did buy a couple of Boxcar Children books on Audible but those are for the Tornado so they don't count.
It's not that I need any new books but it's been so long since I've gotten nothing new that I feel the need to go on a book buying binge or something though I will try to stay strong and resist!
Currently:
Reading: I just started The Boy at the Door by Alex Dahl which is kind of dark and creepy and Poisoned Pages by Lorna Barrett.
Listening: Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn which I'm enjoying. I'd been meaning to read it forever so I finally decided to go the audio route.
Watching: We've just started watching Longmire on Netflix and are loving it!
Off the Blog:
It's been a fairly quiet week. The Tornado was at robotics camp at the Space and Rocket Center all week and loved it. He did it last year but this year he's in a higher age group so they did some slightly more complicated things with programming and designing. He's pretty much convinced he wants to be software engineer.
This coming week the Tornado has two tennis lessons (one is a makeup). He's been taking lessons for almost 2 months now and is really enjoying it. After that he and I are heading down to Mississippi to visit my grandparents. We haven't managed to make it down this summer and with school starting back at the beginning of next month I really want to make sure we get the trip in. J isn't able to go with us but I think we'll have a good time. I'm considering getting the audio book for the 1st Harry Potter for the drive. I think he's probably old enough to handle the suspense and there's so much humor that I think it'll be a good listen.

I'm curious about The Boy at the Door. Enjoy your books...and your trip. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLongmire is fun, I think I'm somewhere in season five and I've taken a long hiatus, but I love the show and need to finish it up at some point.
ReplyDeleteScandal Above Stairs looks good, I've been eyeing that one and the previous book, so curious to see what you think.
Have a great and safe trip to MS!
A software engineer is a good profession! it's good that he likes it. It's so nice to know what you want to do already so early in your life :) provided he sticks with it, I mean!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a nice week :) oh, and definitely start that HP with him :)
Hmm I did go on a bit of a book buying binge lately. But then I am staying away from review books, I just feel I need that. I enjoyed the audio of the Julia Quinn book, just noticing I didn't carry on with the next two in the series, but... I only like historical romance now and then.
ReplyDeleteThe Harry Potters were the first audio cds I bought-I love the way Stephen Fry does all the voices!
ReplyDeleteOh I would feel like going on a book buying binge if I hadn't got some in a while lol. I hope you have a great trip. I would say yes to the audiobook. I really want to audiobook the Harry Potter series.
ReplyDeleteI think I have The Boy at the Door by Alex Dahl, I will definitely have to look now. Sounds good. Hope you have a wonderful week. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to Mississippi. I've been binge watching Sugar Rush on Netflix, and watching quite a few movies I've been behind on. Also reading quite a bit. I can't believe we're almost done with July. That audio read sounds like a great idea too! Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO
ReplyDeleteHope you two have a great trip! I think the first HP book sounds like a winner for the drive. I've got all of them and they are wonderful. I reread them now and then. We loved all the Longmire seasons. I've read the first 3 books and my husband has read all of them. The books are a bit different, as you might expect, but great as well.
ReplyDeleteGood job no new books! My kids do tennis and love it. Oh my the HP audios are so good! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad the tornado is enjoying robotics camp! Hope you have a nice week!

Yes! Longmire! I love that show Robert Taylor is awesome as Walt, just wish there was more than just six seasons but we were lucky that Netflix picked it up and saved us from the cliffhanger of season three...lol. Hope you continue to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a super time on your trip and hope you grab HP on audio with Jim Dale as he is awesome and I think T would love listening to all the voices he comes up with!
Have a great week!

Week in Review
Congrats on the no new books! I love weeks like that because it allows me to read stuff I already own and tackle some of the TBR.
ReplyDeleteI love the Harry Potter audios. They are the first audiobooks I purchased after listening to them all from the library. We drove with my daughter at age 4 from MN to Florida. WE had a constant change of things since she needed "action". It worked well. We had fun music, a bag of Barbies or Polly pockets and things to color. We had to be sure to stop for bathroom breaks or driver changes before 3 pm because that is when she always fell asleep! Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteHow cool a software engineer. I hope he does. Sounds like he is having fun. I have not listened to the HP series or watched the movies. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMary my #SundayRoundup #27!
Hope yall have a safe trip and a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteStay strong with your book buying as when you unleash that beast (as I have) it's hard to restrain 😂
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip.

Wow, a whole week with no new books. I wish I could do that. It sounds like Tornado is keeping everyone busy. Enjoy your visit to Mississippi!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Enjoy visiting with your family. I have a brother coming down soon and we always do fun stuff. And I know how you feel. No new books always shocks me. This week they all came at once. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
He's clearly a clever boy - I love that there are activities such as Space Camp where he can go and use his talent. I wish we had the same sorts of things here... my grandson is also clever, but with lots of physical energy and a low boredom threshhold it can be a challenge to keep him occupied during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteAh... no new books! I'm trying VERY hard to make July a 'no new book' month! That TBR pile NEEDS some attention! Have a lovely stay with your grandparents - I think the Harry Potter audiobook is a lovely choice to listen to.
I loved listening to Harry Potter, the reader is amazing, my very favorite for the audible. And Longmire! We are big fans of that series. We are still waiting on the last and final season and we are done. Hard to believe Longmire is actually Australian, no accent at all!
ReplyDeleteI'm just finishing up Jane Harper's last book called Force of Nature. Love it.
The narration on the HP audiobooks is excellent. I'm sure your son will love it.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
I watched the whole Longmire series and loved it. Great show. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhere has this summer gone? It is strange that school will be starting in another month. I bet you and your son will love listening to Harry Potter during your trip. We listened to Wizard of Oz as a family on a trip and had a great time with it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Boy at the Door sounds creepy good. 📚
ReplyDeleteWhat I am thinking is they need to start having the same summer camps for seniors as they do for the kiddos. I would love to go to robotics camp! Good choice with software engineer... The Tornado knows where it's at. 🙌🙌🙌
I am happy you have time to visit your grandparents one more time before school starts. You know how much I love that. 💜
I hope your week has started out well. 🌞
I've had a slightly dry book binging lately. I just have so many books right now.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your trip!
Yeah, HP doesn't get dark until the fourth book. I hope you two got to listen to it. Robotics camp sounds fun. My fraternity brother is all into that. He has these cubes that connect to one another and certain colors do certain things.
