This Week in Reading - March 4

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

This week is going to be a little scarce because my modem decided to die sometime Saturday morning so I’m kind of making do with what I’ve got until I go get a new one Monday.  I’m not too sad going without WiFi but the Tornado is learning a hard lesson regarding television. The idea that he has to wait for something to come on vs being instantly able to stream it whenever he wants is blowing his mind.  He’s having to be more selective about when to use his TV time!

I’m struggling with the whole Rice Krispy treats made to look like cheese thing.  Turns out fondant and I aren’t friends so I’m trying yellow candy melts.  I’ll update next week and it’ll probably be on my Instagram already if you want to check it out.

The thing I’m most excited about is that I bought Disney tickets!  We went in October and now are planning on going back next October and I can’t wait!  I was really surprised at how excited the Tornado was.  I was afraid he would be just okay with the idea but if anything he’s even more excited.

I’ve got a middle grade review, a couple of mystery reviews, and a romance review coming up.  I’ve got a 5 Favorites post planned for Tuesday but not entirely sure if that’ll come together with no internet.  Fingers crossed!

How’s your week going?  Any fun plans?  Happy reading!

  2. Oh, yes, we do tend to take our streaming shows for granted, don't we? Not just kids, either.

Enjoy your week, and hopefully your technology will be up and running soon. Why is it that things always stop working on the weekend, with nobody available to replace them?

  4. Ah, I'm sure that the Tornado will get used to watching TV (at least for the moment). Congrats on going to Disney! I hope you enjoy your second trip to Disney!

  5. Ah we are all "go' until some of our technology gives us the flip, I have WiFi but my TV's decoder went down so now I have to wait for a technician but I can still stream. The opposite of The Tornado!

  6. Have fun at Disney! Although I know it's not too soon, still excited for you! I am hit by the TV issue every time I visit my mum without my laptop - it's so weird to check the TV schedule and not just watch whatever film I want to!

Fingers crossed for the Internet to come back!

  7. Urg! Technology - you can't live without it, these days! What a lovely surprise to be able to look forward to in October, Katherine:). In the meantime, have a great week.

  8. Rice Krispy treats made to look like cheese? This I have missed and am not sure I want to catch it up!!
Fingers crossed you get your modem fixed

  9. Yeay on Disney! I'd love to go back to Disney this year (we also went last October) but being in the UK adds a whole level of cost and difficulty plus I'm buying a house this year so it's just not going to happen... Hope you have a great time!

  10. I'm sorry to hear about your modem. It's tricky to try to live without this technology that allows us to stream through our lives.

  11. Oh no! It's horrible when technology takes a nose-dive! But good news for your family going back to Disney World. When my kids were little and they grew up in FL we had season tickets, and I think they memorized the directions around the parks! But of course there is a lot of new attractions since then to enjoy.

Glad to be back blogging and hope to chat with you soon!

  12. Oh bummer about the modem I know how that is and it stinks. That's funny about Tornado and getting to learn how we use to watch TV before streaming! :) Hope you have a great week and get that modem!

  13. Sorry you are having problems with your modem. I have been there. Hope you get back into the swing this week. I am riding out the storm that took out our power at a friends. So surreal looking at all the downed trees and power lines cut in half. They say we won't have power to our area till Wednesday!! Have a good Sunday!

  14. So sorry about the modem woes; I hope they get sorted out soon! And how exciting about Disney! Is this the CA or FL park? I've got a bit of a soft spot for the original on the west coast, but there's just so much more to do in Orlando. I'm sure you guys will have loads of fun!

  15. I'm not sure my idea of fun is Disney anymore, though I know how much fun it must be for kids. My step-kids-to-be were there in February with their mom and they had a blast.

  16. I'm guessing Tornado is your name for your small human! I call mine Squish when she's good and a multitude of British swear words when she's not. XD

Good luck with your Rice Crispy cheese thingy!

  17. Hahaha, that's so funny about Tornado :D I've never thought about it this way, never had streaming when I was a kid, and I just don't watch TV now. But when you think about it,s it's such a big gap for kids and teenagers to understand, probably. They'd probably ask us how we even managed and didn't get horribly bored, living with ONLY regular TV :DDD

  18. I hate when my internet and DirecTV/Netflix goes out. Makes me appreciate them more. I'm going to Disney Wednesday with my two sons, daughter in law, and two oldest grandkids. We bought annual passes. We're only staying 2 nights, but we only live an hour away so we can go back whenever we want. I can't wait.

  19. Mouse is spoiled with streaming too. :-) She doesn't understand when she can't just turn on whatever show she wants when we are somewhere without working WiFi. I hope your modem issue gets resolved soon. That's great that you will be able to go back to Disney World this coming October! Mouse's Girl Scout troop wants to use some of their cookie money to go to Disneyland in April. Mouse is really excited about that. They also will be going horseback riding with the rest of the money later this month, which I think she is even more excited about. I hope you have a great week, Kathrine!

  20. Good luck with your new modem. Yes, kids today have no idea and how could they? All they know is instant this and instant that. Fun that you got more Disney tickets. Know you guys will have a great time. We went several times when our daughter was young. And took 3 of her friends with us for one last trip after she graduated high school. Since we don't have any grandkids, I think we might be done with that. LOL

  21. Hope the internet gets back soon. I guess the little tornado got a big shock but will learn a valuable lesson from this experience. I haven't been to Disney world in so long. It was a lot a fun, maybe I go back someday soon. Hope you have a great week!

  22. Oh man, no wi-fi... that stinks! And for little ones like Tornado, that's like a world they've never been part of. The struggle is real :) How exciting that y'all are going back to Disney. I haven't been since I was like 15!

  23. Sorry about the modem. Funny about Tornado learning about not having things to stream right away. My kids learned that when the cable went out one day. They were so confused!! YAY for Disney. Have a great week!

  24. Ack! First world problems. So hard for little ones to understand. I hope it wasn't too crazy for you. We have yet to take the dames to Disneyland; I think of the lines and groan.

  25. I like using fondant for making cake decorations, but not for covering anything, so I get where you are coming from! They melts sound like a good idea, I'll have to check out your IG. I have been struggling with my wifi being off and on, so I can only imagine trying to blog with it completely out! 😱

Yay, for Disney! Have a wonderful and WiFi filled week. :D

  26. Nothing sucks worse for a blogger when there are computer/wi-fi/or modem issues, so glad you'll be able to get it fixed today. I think we all get caught up in that instant gratification these days.(lol) Yay on the Disney trip!!!! Can't wait to hear more about the trip with pics. Hugs and Happy Monday! RO
