Friday Linkups: Whiskey Beach

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice.

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
What is most rewarding about being a book blogger?

My Answer:
This one is easy!  The most rewarding thing about book blogging is finding other people to really talk books with!

This week's book comes off the bottom of one of my piles of books.  I'm trying to read a bit more off my TBR shelf and this stand alone from Nora Roberts caught my eye.  Whiskey Beach came out a little while ago and while I've had it a few years for some reason I never read it.

The Beginning:
Through the chilly curtain of sleet, in the intermittent was of the great light on the jutting cliff to the south, the massive silhouette of Bluff House loomed over Whiskey Beach.

My Thoughts:
Talk about ominous!  And cold.  Really cold.  This makes me want to curl up with a blanket and a cup of tea.

The 56:
With the muscles in his shoulders twisting into fists, he opened the email.
My Thoughts:
So I haven't really started on this one yet so I don't know what's going on but I'm guessing whoever the email is from is someone he really doesn't want to hear from.  A parent maybe?  Or an ex?  I'm looking forward to finding out!

So what do you think?  Keep reading?

  1. Meeting other people is definitely the best thing about blogging! And this is a Nora Roberts book that I haven't read yet. 'Curtains of sleet' and shoulder muscles 'twisted into fists' - wow. Cold and uncomfortable. :-)

  2. I've never read anything by Nora Roberts. I get the impression I may like JD a little more.

Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).

  3. It is wonderful being able to connect to other book lovers. In real life few of my friends are readers (or at least readers of the same sorts of books) so definitely love having the blog :D

  5. I agree. Talking books is so natural to us and having blogger talks too.

  6. So true, Katherine! Sometimes I get tired of writing reviews, or don't have the time I want to commit to reading, but my connection to the other bloggers is what keeps me going, and 'm thankful for that!

  8. I had this one a while before reading it, too, mainly because it wasn't a review book or ARC. I loved it, though. Hope you are enjoying it. Here's mine: “ALL THE SUMMER GIRLS”

  9. Yes... the bookish conversation is definitely the best part of blogging.
I don't think I've ever read Nora Roberts!

  10. I find it easier to communicate online than in person. Having an outlet to talk about books is rewarding

  11. I haven't read this yet but she writes about interesting occupations. I like her single books more than her trilogies.

  12. Sounds like a great book! I love the BB, it's quite descriptive and makes you want to know more about Whiskey Beach.
    Thanks for sharing,

  15. I enjoyed Whiskey Beach. Of course, Nora Roberts is a must-buy author for me. I'm spotlighting Screwball by Linda Morris this week. Happy reading!

  17. I love her books and movies! I have this on my shelf. If only I had time to read all of those books staring at me. Retirement can't come soon enough. LOL

  19. Those quotes are enticing enough to send me over to look into Nora Roberts. My day didn't unfold the way I thought it would yesterday. It ended in the emergency room for dogs. Sigh. My Friday Quotes

  20. That is an ominous start. And I agree with you about the best part of blogging. :

  22. I'm actually reading a hardback right now. It shouldn't sound crazy, but it does somehow. It's so big and heavy. LOL

The opening of your book makes me long for cooler weather. It's actually been nice the last couple of days, but it's supposed to get back into the high nineties this weekend.
