Friday Fives - My Auto-Buy Authors

I'm taking a bit of a break from my usual Friday Linkups to try something a little different.  Michelle over at Because Reading is Better Than Real Life   used to do a Five on Fridays that I always enjoyed and I've seen a few other variations on the theme.  As well I'm in a list making kind of mood so I thought I'd give start making random five lists.  Sometimes they'll be bookish other weeks not so much.  This week is all about auto buy authors.  This was harder to put together than I originally thought it would be.  For example I would have thought Nora Roberts was an auto-add until I realized that I haven't really been interested in her most recent trilogy and haven't picked up her latest stand alones.  Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series is auto-buy for me but her other series frankly aren't.  Also, auto-BUY is different than auto-READ so I'm focusing on the auto-buy even when I have the last five books stacked up unread.  I know I'll get to them eventually and I know I'll like them.

1.  Lynn Cahoon - I love all of Lynn Cahoon's cozy mystery series though my favorite involves bookshop owner Jill and her detective boyfriend Greg.

2.  Hazel Gaynor - I'm relatively new to Gaynor but I have thoroughly enjoyed her historical fiction that I've read and I'd trust her to cover just about any subject.

3.  RaeAnne Thayne - When I'm in the mood for a nice romance about nice people Thayne is the author I automatically think of.  She's never let me down.

4.  Jayne Ann Krentz - I love romantic suspense and Jayne Ann Kretnz has the absolute best.  Her books aren't always memorable but they're always thoroughly enjoyable.

5.  Jenny Colgan - I've only started reading Colgan in the last couple of years but I've loved them all.  They always make me want to wear sweaters and have a peat fire.

I'm sure there are more but right now these are five authors that I will automatically request, buy or check out from the library as soon as I see their name on the cover!

  1. I've got quite a few auto buy authors and that means I'm following a ton of series to catch up on!

  2. I've only read books by Krentz from your list. I know these authors are quite popular. I have several auto-buy authors, but I'm trying to keep them manageable. They are usually series authors and I really love my series. :-)

  4. Auto-buy is different from auto-read haha- so true! I have books I HAD to have that are still sitting unread. It's a problem. :)

  5. I really like three of those authors, not sure any of them are auto buys but surely auto reads. I have some I auto buy like Marie Force's Fatal series, anything by Susan Wiggs or Wendy Wax. Nalini Singh's paranormal, and most likely a few others!!

  6. I've only read one of these authors—-Jenny Colgan. I liked the one I've read and am definitely planning to read more from her. I'm glad you're a fan as well :)

  7. I think Becky Chambers might be my only auto-buy author at this point. All the other authors that would fit this are dead. 😱
