It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
The View from Alameda Island by Robyn Carr - I've really enjoyed Robyn Carr's books and I've loved her more women's fiction so I'm excited to read this one. (Little Bird Publicity)
The Au Pair by Emma Rous - This looks gloriously creepy in a Kate Morton/Daphne du Maurier kind of way and I'm really looking forward to diving into this one in January to cut the sweetness after all my Christmas reads. (Publisher)
Masked Ball at Broxley Hall by Rhys Bowen - Audible was having a sale and so this happened. I loved the last two so I'm looking forward to listening to this novella. (Purchased from Audible)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Race Against Time by Frank Cottrell Boyce - I will listen to David Tennant read just about anything and I've especially loved the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang series though none are as good as the original. (Purchased from Audible)
The Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton - I've loved everything by Kate Morton that I've read and I'm excited to try this on audio. (Purchased from Audible)
A Man of Some Repute by Elizabeth Edmondson - This looks like a mystery full of British-y goodness. (Purchased from Audible)
Currently:
Reading: The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts and Christmas on the Island by Jenny Colgan
Listening: I just finished The Witness by Nora Roberts which was a reread for me and I absolutely loved listening to it. Haven't started my new book yet but will soon.
Watching: I've been hitting the Hallmark Christmas movies hared especially since I discovered there is an app that has a checklist! There's nothing I love more than a checklist!
Off the Blog:
Things have been pretty quiet here. All the problems from the last few weeks seem to have been resolved. I'm still not at 100% but I'm getting there which I really appreciate. I still get tired easily and lose my breath more often than I'd like but it's getting better.
We're getting ready for Christmas and I have the bulk of my shopping done though there are a few bits and pieces left to get. Next week I've got some things to do at the school and then the Tornado will be out for the break about half way through. I'm looking forward to having some down time without having to worry about the school schedule.

I've got the Au Pair on my list to read in January and I'm hopeful it will be a nice suspenseful read! We recently watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang around here a while back and were cracking up at times. I've never read it though.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better!
I have the new Robyn Carr as well and really have high anticipation. Will be interesting to see how the Kate Morton book is on audio. I have the book but not read yet.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better. And getting shopping done already is a great thing as well.

I'm glad you're feeling much better now. It must be a relief to be on the mend. Flu season will be starting here soon and I'm in total hibernation!
ReplyDeleteAu Pair does sound like a good one!! I agree about David Tennant...lol. He could read me the dictionary and make it sound fun!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new reads and have a great week!

Week in Review
I got a letter this week saying the school wont have tutoring next week and I was so excited I don't have to get up early. lol I am looking forward to spending the week of christmas with the kids. It will be the first time in almost 7 years. I am glad you are getting better but still try to rest, sadly those nasty colds always take so long to go away.
ReplyDeleteHope this week is fantastic, Katherine! Happy Reading! ox
It's great you're feeling better and have the shopping almost complete. Other than the things I make, I stuck to online shopping. But we don't need or want much. I hope you reall get to rest up although with the Tornado at hand it may prove more difficult. Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing The Au Pair around, and the comparison to Daphne du Maurier and Kate Morton has sold me.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy Robyn Carr's books...and I'm way behind.
Enjoy the holiday planning, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
You can't go wrong with a Robyn Carr book. Another author I need to catch up on. I read Masked Ball at Broxley Hall and loved it. I have the Au Pair coming up soon to read. I have to get the Hallmark app. I love checklists and those movies too. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMy post is here.
It is so hard to think that Christmas is almost here. I am so happy to hear that you are starting to feel better. I am glad you took advantage of the Audible sale. Have a great week and enjoy all of your new reads.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling much better! You had a nasty illness this time :(
ReplyDeleteI would probably enjoy the new Robyn Carr. I've read a few in the Virgin River series, a few in the Thunder Point, and the first in the Colorado one she's on now. Also an older stand-alone, I forgot the name.
What I'm trying to say is that I enjoy her but don't follow through in her series for whatever reason.
Have a wonderful week until Christmas!
I have the Au Pair to read too. It sounds like there's a lot of atmosphere. And I also have the majority of my holiday shopping done. I like to get out there right before Christmas to do some impulse buying. They make great gifts. Enjoy your new reads.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I was always ready for the kids to be on holiday break - and then equally ready for them to go back to school by the end of the break :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the new Robyn Carr!
I hope you are 100% by the New Year! 💪
ReplyDeleteI loved having Baz home during vacations. I could never figure out the stay-at-home moms who moaned and groaned when the kids were on break. I loved hanging with him like you do with the Tornado. 👍✨
Have a wonderful week. 🌞
Loved the Au Pair and The Clockmaker's daughter. I'm glad you are on the mend. that sucks to be short of energy, especially this busy time of year.
ReplyDeleteOh, a checklist is for me too!
Sorry your energy is still up and down from that pneumonia; man did it take a chunk out of you. I'm glad you're out and about though.
