Life with Leukemia, a Puppy, and Some Reading - October 30

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Nothing!  I need to concentrate on the books I have so it's nice to have an empty shelf every once in awhile.

Currently:

Reading:  An Unforgiving Place by Claire Kells and Agatha Christie's Secret Notebooks by John Curran

Listening:  Nightshade for Warning by Bailey Cattrell

This week was pretty nice and normal.  Will's numbers are a bit lower but are still holding steady and he's feeling pretty good.  We have 13 weeks left until the end of treatment which is hard to believe.  It's a bit scary to think of not having weekly check ins but it will be fantastic to be done.  He'll still have physical therapy and a few other things as well as month check ins at clinic for awhile but in 13 weeks no more chemo!  Now we just have to figure out what "normal" is again.

I've been obsessively playing Disney Dreamlight Valley on the Switch.  I don't really get caught up in video games very often but this has nice low stakes and doesn't involve fast reflexes - plus it has Disney characters! - so it's perfect for me.  I've been having a lot of fun with it though my reading has taken a hit.

That's about it.  Other then video game playing and doctor visits it's been mostly dog classes and classes for Will and that's about it.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  1. Haha empty shelves are nice- you can always fill them up, right? :) Glad there's light at the end of the tunnel for Will's chemo- this has been such a long road for you guys. I hope the week ahead is a fabulous one!

  2. A normal week feels good, doesn't it? Hopefully the 13 weeks flies by and you can find your normal again. Have to say I've never played a video game and only tried a few games on my phone for very short periods. I just never caught the bug for that kind of gaming. Now put a board game or deck of cards in front of me, and I'm all in! :) Hope you have a terrific week and have time to read a good book.

  5. 13 weeks will be over before you know it! It wil be so exciting to finally be done with chemo! I have been hearing a lot about this Disney game. My daughter will be home with her switch soon so I may have to look into it.

  6. Hope the 13 weeks fly by real quick and that everything goes smoothly! You all need a bit more normal and hope you can get back to a somewhat new normal. Have fun with your video game! Sounds like a nice way for you to relax.
I only got one book this week but it was an extremely anticipated 2023 read! :)

  7. I like the photo of the empty shelf but now I want to know what is in that bottle! haha
Such good news about Will. He has been such a trooper about the treatment and I am so glad it's about to end.

We were watching Earth to The Moon last week - an HBO special which is pretty good. Have you seen it?

  12. I'm glad Will is doing better, and I know you all can hardly wait until his chemo is done!

Enjoy those empty shelves, and have fun catching up with some of the books you own. I should put myself on a book-buying hiatus, but I'm terrible at sticking to book bans. Still, I have a ton of unread books on my physical shelves, let alone my Kindle library.

Have a happy Halloween, and a great November!

  13. The end is in sight for chemo, so good. I don't dare take up a video game as I know I'd play it compulsively. Nice to have empty shelves.

  16. I'm happy to hear Will is feeling pretty good, and thirteen weeks should go by pretty quickly especially with the holidays being in the middle of it. The holidays always seem to speed up time for some reason. 🤗

There are a couple of games I have wanted to play on a Switch, but Baz won't let me use his. Ha ha. His friend owns an arcade that has a gaming sales section, so I have him on the alert for a good used deal coming into the store. ☺

I hope you had a fun Halloween and a great start to the week! ☀
