What I Got:
Mistress of the Ritz by Melanie Benjamin - I loved her previous book, The Girls in the Picture, and not only does this one have a gorgeous cover but the premise really appeals to me. (Publisher)
Aunt Dimity and the Heart of Gold by Nancy Atherton - This was a fun surprise! I've been wanting to read this series forever so I'm really looking forward to this one. (Publisher)
Mother's Day Mayhem by Lynn Cahoon - I can never pass up a Lynn Cahoon and this is the newest in my favorite series of hers. (NetGalley)
Sconed to Death by Lynn Cahoon - I love a cozy title pun and this is a pretty great one. While this isn't my favorite series by Cahoon it is still very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to seeing what Cat is up to now. (NetGalley)

Watching: I've really been enjoying The Voice and we've been watching Disney movies on movie nights to start getting ready for Disney World later this year. We watched Coco and I really enjoyed it. This weekend I think it's going to be Tangled.
Off the Blog:
We finally decided on our big vacation for the year! We normally take a big vacation in October and then sprinkle a few extended weekend trips throughout the rest of the year. This year we are going to Disney World - again. It's actually the third year in a row we've been and I'm beyond excited. Disney is one of my favorite places and I would cheerfully visit two or three times a year with or without children. We'll probably head down to the beach and maybe up to the mountains once or twice as well but for now I'm full into Disney planning.
I'm struggling with the whole concept of lunch at the moment. What do you eat for lunch during the weekday? I always mean to come up with something for lunch - preferably a salad or soup or something I can make at the beginning of the week and eat from the rest of the week - but never do or when I do try I can never come up with anything to eat. Right now I'm going with a sandwich but it's kind of boring and I'd love something a bit healthier.

Sconed to Death... haha love it. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh Tangled is so fun!
Disney is a great place to vacation. I love it there!
Disney World sounds amazing. I really hope to be able to go there someday too!
ReplyDeleteAnd how fun watching the Disney movies. My husband doesn't like watching movies more than once.. but I really wish we could watch some of those movies again. LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Oooh have fun at Disney! And I eat lunch at work so I can't really help you (and thank God because I have a feeling that I'd be in a similar predicament!)
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Disney. Crazy, right?!
ReplyDeleteI need to look for Mistress of the Ritz. There is something about a book with an Eiffel Tower on the cover!
Enjoy your week.
I doubt that my dad and I will take any foreign holidays in the future. We've been quite happy getting in the car and going around Scotland and England to visit new places!
ReplyDeleteYAY DISNEY! I could vacation there forever. I would gladly go 2 or 3 times a year. It never gets old. My husband and I plan to go a lot when the kids move out lol. Maybe they can come with us
ReplyDeleteLunch is PB&J or cold cuts. I love my cold cuts. Sometimes a salad but it's hard to set up at work. I also bring soups but in the cans since it's easy. I really don't get a lunch at work so I have to eat at my desk so it has to be something I can eat and work.
I hope you have a fantastic week, Katherine! Happy Reading! xx
Have fun at Disney, there is none around my country, though we have a Warner Brothers. Oh I have not visited that either. I hope you have a great week ahead.

Disney World sounds like a wonderful destination - I'd love to one day visit Disneyland in Paris. But Himself isn't all that keen... Our supermarket up the road does a lovely selection of pasta salads that you can put together yourself. Have you anything like that near you?
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are cooking lots this year and during the winter we've made lots of soups and stews. That means we have them a lot of days for lunch and dinner until they're gone and the next batch is made...lol! At least they're healthy.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, I'm sorry to say I've only been to Disneyland--and only twice. The last time was 25 years ago! Our vacations are almost always to visit our far flung family.
You got some great sounding books and are reading books and/or authors I've wanted to read. I hope you have a good week.
The Melanie Benjamin book looks good. I also enjoyed The Girls in the Picture. Cute cozies, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, and here are
MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Disney sounds like the happy choice and something to look forward to. Hmm Lunch! No ideas - it is the poor relation of the meals family. Nice variety of choice in reading.
ReplyDeleteI love the Voice but haven't watched that or any other tv much over the last 5 years. We are considering vacations also, depending on my daughter's health issues, once her school year is ended.
ReplyDeleteI had lunch issues too. I bought packaged salads at Trader Joes or Walmart, occasionally sushi, also I sometimes took cheese, nuts, cottage cheese or other proteins (sort of my own version of those Balanced Breaks things) I liked apples with peanut butter too. Mostly I tried to stick to protein and veggies. At home we use our leftovers for lunch and cook new things at night. Happy reading!
Anne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I've never been to Disney World. Land, yes though. It was really fun and I would totally go over and over again if I could.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a real lunch person.
Hope you enjoy your new book!
We went to Disney two years in a row once. I do think that the last visit cured my addiction a bit and I am not sure if or when we will go back. I either eat leftovers or salad for lunch most days. I keep a bottle of salad dressing at the office so I can throw together a salad pretty quickly. Portable is the key for me. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't afford to go to Disney when my son was young. Maybe someday we'll still go. For lunch I like cold sandwiches with fruit or a pickle. Something light that won't slow me down and make me want to take a nap. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
All you books sound great!!! One of these days I am making it to Disney land or world I don't care but one of them....lol. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I haven't made it to Disney since I was 13 years old and I really want to go again. But with the pregnancy it's not likely to happen this year. Maybe in a couple? Enjoy planning your trip!!
ReplyDeleteLunch is a hard one for me too. This week I'm trying something a bit different for me, chicken salad lettuce wraps. Here's the link to the recipe I'm trying if you're interested: https://simplygluten-free.com/blog/2010/09/allergy-free-lunches-for-kids.html I prepped them today and the sample I took was quite good. We'll see if I manage to enjoy them all week!
Have a great week :)
Sounds like some fun vacations! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty cover!
ReplyDeleteI just so leftovers for lunch most of the time. That way it varies and no extra work really on my part.
Oh, yay, The Wizards of Once! Annemieke read it recntly and liked it. I keep hoping that Hoopla will get it. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI am planning a trip to The Wizarding World in October of 2020. I was told that was the best time weather wise with the exception of early spring (but we would be taking a chance with flight cancellations from snow/ice that time of year on this end). Is Florida weather good in October? 🍃
I don't like to eat wheat bread, and so many other breads still have wheat in them (even rye), so I eat plain gluten free waffles because they are much cheaper than gluten free bread. For lunch I like a fresh tomato slice with a 50/50 mix I make with mayo and plain greek yogurt, tuna fish made with the same 50/50 mix, or a veggie burger on a waffle. I also love pasta with diced (canned) tomatoes and minced garlic instead of red sauce. 🍝
I hope your week started out well. 🌞
I love Disney!! We used to go twice a year every year when I was a kid, then I went on my honeymoon....and I haven't been back. :( I am hoping to take my kiddo in the next year or two though.
ReplyDeleteLunch is my nemesis. I never know what to make for myself, or my son. He is a super picky eater which doesn't help. Lol. I kind of like Lala's idea for a veggie burger on a waffle! That sounds awesome!
You're so lucky you live close to Disney World. All I care about is Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. I do miss Disneyland. We hope to go back in 2020.
ReplyDeleteCoco is a good one; we watched that via Prime some time ago. Captain Marvel is the newest movie we saw together as an ohana. My husband wants to see the upcoming Avengers one.
