This Week in Reading - November 26

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

I got nothing AGAIN!  This is the 2nd week in a row and while my TBR pile is relieved about it I'm starting to feel a bit twitchy.  I might have to head to the library soon to do some mass book checking out to keep me from going on a book buying binge or requesting all the books on NetGalley.

Currently:

Reading:  Ditched 4 Murder by J.C. Eaton and Garden of Lamentations by Deborah Crombie

Listening:  I'm almost to the end of A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny which is the 2nd in the Armand Gamache series.  I've really enjoyed this one so far.

Watching:  This week was bonkers so there wasn't too much TV watching but J and I started watching The Good Place - the first season is on Netflix - which has Kristen Bell and Ted Danson in it and are enjoying it.  It's super quirky and funny.  Oh and I got in a Hallmark Christmas movie or two which was fun.

Off the Blog:

Thanksgiving 2017 is in the books and I'm exhausted!  The Tornado had the entire week off from school and I had hoped to do a few fun things but it seemed like all the time got swallowed up by errands and to do lists.  Our actual Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful and we stayed up far too late talking but it was lots of fun.

Saturday was the Iron Bowl and it was quite the game!  Auburn one which was really excited though there's an injury or two that makes me nervous for the rest of the season.  I did a few errands Saturday morning and it was like a ghost town which was kind of bizarre.  I guess everyone was at home getting ready for watching the game.

This week is Christmas decorating.  I really want to clean out some of the stuff I don't love and kind of decorate a little different than I have in the past years.  Whether or not that'll happen - who knows?

Thanks for all the suggestions on my Tell Me What to Read post Monday.  If you have any suggestions for books that I simply must read in 2018 please let me know!

  1. I can't believe this year is almost gone...but in many ways, I won't be sad to see it go. Hopefully the New Year will bring some good things!

I've been loving Hallmark Christmas movies more than usual.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing.

  7. I must see if we have The Good Place on Netflix here. A second week of incoming books - none, is impressive and I understand the twitchy bit!

  8. Two weeks with no book haul? That's awesome! I'd be getting twitchy too :) Love The Good Place and Hallmark movies.... I may already be on my second one this morning. Have a great week and hope you enjoy the Christmas decorations!

  9. It's crazy how fast the time flies by right?! One week is over before you know it.
Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Good luck with decorating your home. I hope to get ours done in our vacation, which starts this Thursday.

  11. You are doing good on not getting new books! I am curious about The Good Place and will be checking that out. I need a new show.

We're starting to decorate too and it's fun, getting in the holiday spirit. Kinda glad Thanksgiving is over even though we had a good one. Have a super week!

  12. Nothing is good my friend. We might actually read books from our own TBR pile..LOL We are decorating, and I keep taking things out and thinking..do I really want to deal with this and Clayton for the next month? LOL Sophia was much easier, she got No, and we even taught her just to clap at things she liked rather than touch it. It took me 6 months to teach Clayton not to touch the fireplace and even now he tests me. He rubs the hearth and looks at me. I say no, and he lays his head on it but eventually moves away.

  13. Two whole weeks with no new books? I'm impressed! I can't seem to go a week without buying Kindle deals. I probably should cut myself off next year, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Everyone seems to be decorating for Christmas this weekend. I'd like to prune some of my less favored ornaments and decorations, too, but I don't think it will happen this year because I have too little time.

  15. I watched a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies over the long weekend - they were fun and made me want to start decorating. I'm putting it off until next weekend.

  16. I know what you mean about getting twitchy about not getting books. It's not even them needing to be from Net Galley but it's just adding something to the shelves. I seem to work on a book read and reviewed a book added to the shelves. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Now roll on Christmas!

  17. I ended up getting two books in the mail but I had won them over a month ago. I'm glad Thanksgiving went well and everyone enjoyed themselves. We are also about to get out the Christmas decorations and get the house looking festive.

Oh, for 2018 may I suggest the Tana French Dublin Murder Squad books and the Deverill Chronicles by Santa Montefiore. I need the last book in the trilogy - the Last Secret of the Deverills. Are you joining any challenges next year?

  20. I'm enjoying the Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm glad to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving! I hope the Christmas decorating goes well. I have to start that this week as well. I did put away all the Thanksgiving decorations we had up.

    Have a great week!

  21. I am glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving. I think it is great that you haven't added any books again this week. I need to take notes and follow your lead. Have a great week!

  22. Life is much busier when the little one is home, yeah? Our pantry was wiped out by the crew since we were home all week. I had visited Costco the Friday before but that was a small trip. I stocked up today.

  23. San Marcos, Texas is truly a ghost town when all the college kids leave at Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Literally, 20-30K population decline. It is honestly a ghost town. It's so eerie going out and being about on days where it feels like that. I felt really weird the times I stayed around because of work. I'm glad Tornado didn't drive you batty all week! It really is the perfect week to run errands and take care of everything before the big feast. I hope you have a great week!
