What I Got:
The Comfort Food Diaries: My Quest for the Perfect Dish to Mend a Broken Heart by Emily Nunn - After her life falls apart all at once Emily Nunn turns to cooking for solace which starts a Comfort Food Tour project. I love food books and I love project books so this one is perfect for me! (NetGalley)
Duke of Desire by Elizabeth Hoyt - I've been wanting to read the Maiden Lane series for awhile and Elizabeth Hoyt for even longer so I couldn't resist this one when I came across it on NetGalley! (NetGalley)
The Winter Wedding Plan by Olivia Miles - I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited to see the little sister who has had a rough couple of years was getting her own book. I'm excited to see her story! (NetGalley)

Currently:
Reading: The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin and All Signs Point to Murder by Connie di Marco
Listening: I should be getting A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas any day now but until then I'm listening to podcasts. I'm really enjoying What Should I Read Next? right now and getting some good bookish recommendations and I've loved The History Chicks too.
Watching: J and I are finishing up Shetland on Netflix. I really loved the episodes that were based of specific books but am less in love with season 3 which is just using the characters. I'm also watching some I Love Lucy after listening to The History Chicks podcast about Lucille Ball and I've really been enjoying them. In between all that I'm catching up on the hundreds of Hallmark Mystery Movies I've recorded in the last couple of years. Pretty sure The Garage Sale Mysteries are my favorite.

His preferred sleeping position - under the blankets with his head on my shoulder |
Kitten! After much heated debate we've gone with the name Comet. We're a bit space obsessed over here so Mars and Mercury were also suggested. He adjusted really quickly and seems pretty content here He's got lots of energy at times and it's impossible of him to take a picture when he's awake because he wants to see what is in my hand so usually I get a really close up shot of a cat nose or a paw. He's super snuggly and wants to sleep under the blankets up against people which is a new one for me. I've had cats that slept on beds but none that slept under the covers. He's kind of a brat! Okay more than kind of! If he feels like he needs attention he's not quiet about. He'll get between whatever you're working on and yowl at you until you pick him up. Most nights he stomps on me and tries to head butt my Kindle out of my hand until I pet him enough for him to settle down. It's really been so much fun to have a kitten around and he really does have an awesome personality even when he's driving me crazy!

Aw what a cute kitty! And Comet's a great name! Cats are the best although they can be a little insistent!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Shetland. I'll miss the characters. And now I'm in the hunt for new show. :) My mom used to watch I Love Lucy so I saw a lot of Lucille Ball when I was younger, and I used to laugh so hard. She was hilarious.
Comet is a great name, well chosen. I enjoy What Should I Read Next too. Usually the books are a little outside my taste in books, but I just enjoy the discussions. Will be interested to see what you think of the Sherry Thomas audio.
ReplyDeleteComet is a great name and suits him perfectly. Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteThe comfort food series sounds really good as well as The winter wedding plan. I will have to check them out more. Awh your kitten is adorable sister just got a little kitten to called Ethan. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteKitten is soo cuute! Love the name!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week! :)
I love the look of Comfort Food Diaries. After a trip to Chicago last week, I feel like everyone in the country needs some comfort food. What is wrong with our country? So much meanness, I think.
ReplyDeleteI've just returned from a road trip:

I haven't ever read the books for Shetland so I guess the 3rd season didn't bother me and it was my favorite because the whole season was one story and you got more and in a couple of episodes my favorite actor was in it till...well not sure how far into the third season so I won't say...lol.
ReplyDeleteYour kitten is really cute, I think all kittens are cute till they grow up to be cats...lol. Not a cat lover here...lol. One of my little dogs likes to sit on my kindle when I am trying to read in bed. I guess she is like nope pet me first. :)
Have a great week!

Kittens are cute little fluffy pains in the derrier, ha ha. I love the name. I am jealous that he is snuggly, our cat is not. I have to take photos of her asleep because when she is awake she looks grumpy. XD Have a fantastic week. :)
ReplyDeleteOmigosh! That is such an adooooorable little fluffy Comet! Having a little baby kitten is wonderful. Enjoy! It's a very short span of time that they're so tiny :)
ReplyDeleteThe kitten is adorable!! But I know even with all their adorable-ness, kittens can be handful.
ReplyDeleteOo I love the History Chicks! I just finished listening to the Emily Post episode. I've been meaning to listen to What Should I Read Next for a while now, just haven't gotten around it to yet.
Awe, Comet is adorable! Enjoy your new additions and happy reading.

Comet is so cute, and it's a great name! And you're reading The Westing Game! I need to write my review of that. I really enjoyed listening to it again. Have a lovely week, and enjoy A Study in Scarlet Women when you get it!
ReplyDeleteI love orange cats...I think I mentioned that we had one a few years ago. We got him at my sister's house, and thought about names all the way home (80 miles). He became Sebastian...and that fit.
ReplyDeleteComet is a cool name.
I loved most of Shetland, too, and yes, some parts were better than others.
I'm excited that a new Garage Sale Mystery is on today! Love that show.
I like the sound of A Study in Scarlet Women. Enjoy! Have a great week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Ahhhh - love Comet! I keep thinking we need a kitten to shake things up with our big cats; but then I worry that our female wouldn't accept another cat at all. She will probably get her way in this decision. I hadn't seen Shetland on Netflix; I think it sounds like something my hubby would enjoy, although neither of us have read the books. P
ReplyDeleteComet is ADORABLE! I've never known a cat to get under covers, either. I think it is so cute of him to sleep up next to you in the bed. He knows how to get his attention! Cera ( the pup we adopted this year) is like that whenever you're giving attention to Baby. She's gotten a little better about it, but she definitely wants to be front and center at all times. I'm going to record the Garage Sale Mysteries and check them out!
ReplyDeleteAw Comet is so cute!! Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAWWWW Comet is too cute and I love the name. His preferred sleeping position is just like my Buffy. She loves to curl up on my shoulder. She's also one for going under the covers - but I'm guessing that's more usual for dogs than it is for cats ! Enjoy the kitty and your new books :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, I love the name Comet! I'm a bit space obsessed as well. I have the Evera Nebula as a permanent wallpaper because it's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books and shows! Have a great week! :)

Comet is adorable! My cats are very persistent about receiving attention too but, I think they're worth it! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYour new kitten is adorable and I love the name. I don't have cats but our dog is spoiled. If my husband and I are sitting together on the couch she has to be in between us. Luckily she's a dachshund so she doesn't take up that much space lol. I haven't watched any tv but I do want to see Shetland. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute kitten! My husband almost brought home a new kitten when he was at the vet's picking up our oldest cat's meds. I told him he was glad my daughter and I weren't there because the kitten definitely would have come home. I love the name Comet. That seems perfect for the little one. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, Katherine!
I loved All Signs Point to Murder. I hope you do too. I used to love I Love Lucy. One of my all time favorite shows. I haven't watched the Hallmark mystery movies yet, but I want to. The Garage Sale mysteries look so good. I have a couple on my Kindle. Adorable kitty! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteaw! What a cute kitten! Comet is a great name. :)
ReplyDeleteComet is a cute name. The Royal just got one that looks just like him. They named him Nacho..LOL We have been watching Broadchurch on BBC America and Midnight, Texas. Have an awesome week!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Hoyt's Four Soldiers series was my gateway to historical romance. I haven't read the Maiden Lane series but I bet its good!
ReplyDeleteAnd Comet is a great name for an adorable kitten.
Awwww, what a cute kitten! Have a great week reading :)
ReplyDeleteComet is adorable. My cat knows how to turn the page on my kindle which is lots of fun. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE "I Love Lucy" - thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteComet is too cute! We're also a little science obsessed - our dog is Sir Isaac Newton. It's a very aspirational name.... he isn't exactly the brightest star in the sky ;)
Oh my, your kitten is so cute! He sounds so lovable.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the Garage Sale Mysteries before, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy watching. Will have to give them a try sometime.
Have a great week.
