Friday Linkups - Key of Knowledge
It's Friday linkup time! I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice
This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you visit ever listed blog in the linky list when you are participating in a meme?
My Answer:
I would really like to and my goal is always to try but some days there just isn't time. I do always try to visit as many possible and try to return visit for the bloggers who have taken the time to visit me.
I've got a pretty crazy review schedule going this year and to prevent burn out I'm trying to slip a few of my favorite rereads into the mix. One of the series I really wanted to revisit was the Key trilogy by Nora Roberts. It came out in the early 2000s and was a series that really got me back into reading after I had really slowed down after my last semester of college, getting a job, and then getting married. I remember coming across a display of the last book in the grocery store of all places and being shocked that I had missed an entire trilogy but being thrilled that I could read all 3 right then! I think I finished the whole series within a week. The second book, Key of Knowledge, featuring librarian/book obsessed Dana and thriller writer/devoted reader Jordan was probably my favorite of the 3. It's so much fun to read a book about characters who really seem to love to read as much as I do and I'm really enjoying revisiting them.
The Beginning:
Dana Steele considered herself a flexible, open-minded woman, with no less than her fair share of her patience, tolerance, and humor.
A number of people might have disagreed with this self-portrait.
But what did they know?
My Thoughts:
This opening made me laugh. It's hard not to like Dana.
The 56:
The Peak was untenanted then, a big, fanciful, spooky place. The perfect place to fascinate a trio of boys with a couple of beers in them.
My Thoughts:
The speaker (well thinking since this is all going on inside his head) is one of the trio of boys mentioned. He's talking about where the inspiration for his first book which I really enjoyed.
So what do you think? Keep reading? Any books you like to reread?

It is so hard to visit all blogs in a linky list when I also have my normal blogs to check. I try to at least pick 5 to visit and like you visit whoever visits me. I still need to read Nora Roberts :::hangs head in shame::: Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteI try to visit as many blogs as I can in general but especially when I am joining in a linky. However, it's just not always possible. I always seem to have a lag on my blog hopping!
ReplyDeleteI try to visit a lot of the links as well, but only if I really like the topic. That way, when I visit I'm more likely to comment as well, rather than just visiting and leaving.
ReplyDeleteSome of those memes are HUGE and goodness no way to visit all of them in one day I wouldn't think. Even most of the week and keep up with other visits. Great way to meet new blogs, though :)
ReplyDeleteI need to read more Nora Roberts, I like what I have read just not read much.

Friday Memes
Ha! That opening line is brilliant - and also so very Nora Roberts. I think I might have read the first book in this series, but I can't remember. It's funny because it helped get you out of your slow down, but I came across it when I was entering my reading slow down. I should really look into these again, though.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think I'm going to start joining these challenges. It looks fun, and I always enjoy reading yours!
DeleteI really used to enjoy Nora Roberts, but I haven't read her for ages. I too am going to dig up an old one. Dancing the Death Drill by Fred Khumalo is my read today.
ReplyDeleteI read this book a while ago and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteintriguing! Mine is here: https://francebooktours.com/2017/03/31/friday-56-march-31-marie-antoinettes-darkest-days/
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to get to everyone, but I usually do. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog, Katherine.
Happy Hopping!!

My Blog Hop Answer
How do you like this trilogy compared to her last one, the one about the witches of past and present?
ReplyDeleteI usually try to visit as many Sunday Posts as I can but not all. There's only so much time. And Top Ten Tuesday I usually try to visit. Other memes like Cover characteristics are mercifully small so there are only a few blogs to visit, and they vary over time! But yeah there's no set amount, and frankly life is just too busy to visit everything.
ReplyDeleteHa I like that 56 quote!
I visit all the Book Blogger Hop ones, then select about 10 from the other hops. It would be nice to do more, but I simply don't have the time.
ReplyDeleteI try to visit new blogs as often as I can but I don't think I would ever have the time to visit every blog from a meme. I have had this series on my TBR forever. I will have to make sure I get to it someday.
ReplyDeleteI also try the best I can to visit other people's blogs whenever I participate in a meme.
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Book Blogger Hop!

I don't know if I read that series or not. Anything my mother had bought, I read (secretly, of course). I read so many Nora Roberts and saw so many more in stores I don't know exactly which all ones I've read or not, but I would definitely keep reading!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a lot of her books and one with books and a librarian makes me especially curious.

I think you already know my commenting strategy, ha ha, commenting spammi... oops I mean marathons. XD
ReplyDelete(I deleted my previous comment because of typos....lol.)
DeleteI think you're right -- there isn't always the time to get to everyone who participates in a blog hop/book meme. At least your heart is in the right place, though! I've given up visiting and commenting first when I participate in a meme, as people don't always visit and comment back. That means I've wasted my precious time. Also, this makes me feel IGNORED. I love the way you put it in your comment on my blog: "....it felt a bit too much like commenting into a vacuum." Lol. That's PRECISELY how I feel!
You know, I read a Nora Roberts omnibus collection last Christmas season, and I greatly enjoyed it!! She's a very engaging writer. Therefore, I am interested in this book you've featured. And there's a LIBRARIAN in the plot!! Music to my ears! I'm off to Goodreads to add this novel!! Thanks for featuring it!! <3 <3
I'd also like to thank you for stopping by and commenting on my BBH post!! Much appreciated!! And I'm commenting right back!! Hope you have a GREAT weekend, Katherine!! <3 <3 :) :)

ReplyDeleteI'm not a rereader but I bet Nora Roberts' books a fun to reread!
ReplyDeleteGreat beginning! I haven't read Robert's in ages. I'd love for you and your readers to check out mine . . . http://tinyurl.com/LisaKsBookReviewsTSotF
ReplyDeleteI've never read Roberts, but if the main character of this series is a book obsessed librarian I might have to start. :)

I try to visit every participant in smaller memes, but it isn't always possible. With the huge memes (like Top Ten Tuesday), I don't even try anymore. I have skipped certain blogs who never reciprocate.
ReplyDeleteI like the opening of Key of Knowledge. I want to get to know Dana better. :-)
I think in a lot of linkys, it is hard to visit each and every blogger who has linked up - I take the same approach as you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really good read! Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI am the same way I try my best to visit every blog on the memes I am on, but it does get a little hard when I am extremely busy at home. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog hope.
