Top Ten Tuesday - Ten Debuts I'm Looking Forward To Reading

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic from The Broke and the Bookish is 2017 Debuts I'm looking forward to reading.  I have a little confession - I'm not great about keeping up with new releases from favorite authors - let alone debuts!  There are however tons of debut novels that have come out in the past that I somehow just haven't gotten around to reading so I thought I'd go that direction today.  So here are the 10 Debut (or at least books I'm pretty sure are debuts) that I hope to read this year!

1.  The Smell of Other People's Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock - I just love the title of this book and I've heard amazing things about it but I don't know all that much about it so I'm looking forward to finally getting around to it.

2.  The Good Girl by Mary Kubica - I wanted to read this book as soon as it came out and then all of a sudden her third book came out and I still hadn't read this one.  I'm really looking forward to this one next time I'm in a thriller-y mood.

3. The Sparrow Sisters by Ellen Herrick - I love books about sisters and after reading The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen I've been craving a little more magic in my books so this sounds like a really great read for me.

4.  Dukes are Forever by Anna Harrington - I didn't take a count of how many historical romances I read in 2016 but I'd be shocked if that number was more than 4 and that's counting 2 rereads I did at the end of the year.  I've been missing the genre but at the same time looking for new authors and Harrington's books sound like a lot of fun.

5.  In the Woods by Tana French - I hadn't heard of this series until I started blogging but as soon as i heard about it I knew I just had to read it but some how keep putting it off.  I've actually scheduled time to read it this year and can't wait.

6.  A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - So I'm going way back in time for this one but I realized this year that the only Sherlock Holmes story I've actually read is Hound of the Baskervilles and that was decades ago.  I'd really like to start at the beginning.

7.  The Regional Office is Under Attack! by Manuel Gonzales - This one just sounds like so much fun I can't resist it!

8.  The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald - It's a book about books AND finding your place in the world.  These are 2 of my favorite things.

9.  The Girls by Emma Cline - I'm a huge true crime addict and this book which is kind of based on the Manson family has me seriously intrigued.

10.  The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden - I love fairy tale retellings and this one looks amazing!

What debuts are you looking forward to reading?

  1. Ah, I am a huge fan of Tana French and I hope you will enjoy In the Woods. I've read every one of her books and am always eager for the next publication. Mary Kubica's first book was good as well but I haven't caught up with her other novels. I want to. Great list you have there!

  4. When we got The Smell of Other People's Houses in at the library we were all talking about the odd title.I hope you like it if you get around to read it. I need to try out new-to-me historical romance authors. I'm so picky when it comes to HR. I have good things about Anna Harrington, though, and I do want to try out her books.

  5. I've been wanting to try Tana French too after seeing her books over at Trish's blog. And The Smell of Other People's Houses has an awesome cover. The Kubica books look like good thrillers and I keep seeing good reviews. those may be on my radar at some point too...

  6. Nice list! I am curious about your first selection--such an unusual title--I want to know more! There are two others on your list that I own and haven't had time to start yet--In the Woods and The Good Girl (I also have Kubica's other two books waiting patiently on a shelf). Happy reading!

  7. I loved The Good Girl...and The Girls. I have In the Woods on Pippa, and it's been there since 2014! But...I have definitely planned to read it this year. It is in my newly created "TBR Jar," waiting its turn.

I hope you enjoy these...and I am very curious about The Smell of Other People's Houses!

  10. I go through phases of books. There was a time that I read only historical novels, then it was erotic, and romantic suspense, then only vampire stories. I had a friend who only read Sheik stories! (lol) Happy New Year!

  12. The Smell of Other People's Houses has got me so torn because BEAUTIFUL cover and so many positive comments all around town, but I am on a self-imposed (because challenges!) ban. Maybe...just maybe? :)

  13. Its difficult to keep up with debuts we most likely don't hear about until people start talking about them. The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend is one I'd like to read sometime or listen to.

  14. Yay for The Smell Of Other People's Houses, although I am a little offended that it is being listed as Historical Fiction when it takes place in 1970. Ha! Both The Sparrow Sisters and The Bear and the Nightingale sound wonderful, so I am going to check them out. :)

  16. This is a great list. I share the interest to read most of these. A Study in Scarlet is the only Sherlock book that I have read, and I keep saying that I am going to work my way through the series. I have read a lot of positive reviews The Smell of Other People's Houses. Such an interesting title.
