This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Can you recall a time in your life when you were not reading?
My Answer:
There were times in college where I didn't read because there was just too much going on and I don't think I read all that much the first year I was married. Neither of these were times where I consciously decided I wasn't going to read but more that reading fell a little farther down the priority list. I do remember really enjoying getting back to regular reading. Other than that I've always read even if it was just a few pages a night.
The Beginning:
(From the Prologue)
Once, in a time long ago, in a world beyond our own, three goddesses gathered to celebrate the dawn of a new queen.
(From Chapter 1)
Dreams plagued her, waking and sleeping. She understood dreams, visions, the knowing.
My Thoughts:
The prologue opening makes me a little nervous as it is very reminiscent of the Three Sisters series (and the last series that was set in Ireland for that matter). However, the beginning of Chapter 1 gives me hope. I want to learn more about the dreams and what she knows.
The 56:
Miles flew by as they argued about it, and as Sasha began to see herself in a losing battle.
My Thoughts:
I'm curious about what battle Sasha is losing and what exactly they're arguing about!
So what do you think? Keep reading? Any authors you've been reading for awhile suddenly start to disappoint?

I'm going to read this book, but think I'll wait until at least #2 is out. I love the Three Sister trilogy and also the Key trilogy. So, that would be a plus for me. As to reading, feel like I've always done it. Did less in college, but still managed to find and absorb Stephen King during that time. A great find for me.
ReplyDeleteI've always read too apart from one time I was woking full time and studying at night, I didn't then. That aside, it's been my one constant hobby.

ReplyDeleteI love Nora Roberts, but like you, I started to have a few problems with her series novels. The first book would start out great, then the other 3 seemed like either the same story with different people, or vice versa. I like the Liar as a standalone, too. I suspect when super popular writers like Roberts and Patterson crank out so many books a year, it's just hard to get it right 100% of the time, particularly if other writers are involved. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteI liked this one actually. To be honest all her trilogies that are paranormal get a little bit the same. However this one was a little different and I loved the setting.

ReplyDeleteI've always read although I did have a phase in my teens where it fell by the wayside a bit. Luckily that didn't last long! Hanging out in bookstores has always been one of my favorite things to do, and if I see a used bookstore- watch out! :)

ReplyDeleteSounds promising, hope it doesn't disappoint. I haven't read much Nora Roberts, maybe one book? She has so many trilogies from years past that I need to take the time and read. Three Sisters is one, and also the Key series.

ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time since I read a Nora Roberts book. I have enjoyed the ones that I have read but for some reason I haven't read her work in years. I am looking forward to your thoughts on this book.
ReplyDeleteI have went through different periods when I didn't read. I found it hard to read in college. I always had something I needed to be reading for school so I felt guilty picking up a book for fun. I also found it to be next to impossible to read when my kids were young. I was always so exhausted when I finally would get them to calm down that reading was the last thing I thought of doing. When my youngest was about 4, I picked up a book and haven't looked back.
I've always been a reader. And a pretty good one at that. But it wasn't till the Twilight era where I started reading A LOT. Now I find it's not a good reading month if I haven't read at least 15 books. What has my life come to? ;)

Nice answer! I can't recall a time when I wasn't reading, except, of course, when real life intervened, such as for daily activities. Lol. When I was in college, even in the middle of required textbook reading, I managed to get hooked on Hermann Hesse.

Is this part of a new trilogy? I think my reading was sparse when my girls were young and I would only read my favorite authors whose books would usually come out every few months or once a year. Then I started seeing how ppl were using Goodreads and I so I joined in to be inspired by what others are reading. I'm glad I made that choice. I read a bit every day now and love the luxury.

During my college years, I didn't do much reading for pleasure either. In fact, during the school terms, it was only reading for classes. I didn't have time to read for fun--it would have been too easy to neglect my studies that way, and so I didn't tempt fate by trying. But, boy, did I make up for it on breaks and during the summers! I hope you are enjoying your current read!
