A Match Made on Main Street by Olivia Miles - I love a 2nd chance romance and one involving food is just too much for me to pass up! (NetGalley)
Death of a Mad Hatter by Jenn McKinlay - McKinlay is one of my favorite cozy authors and I have (but haven't read) the first in the series. I love the title on this one! (Paperbackswap)
That's Not English by Erin Moore - I won this in a giveaway hosted by the awesome Trish over at Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity. (Giveaway)
Currently:
Reading: Lowcountry Boneyard by Susan M. Boyer, Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens (still!)
Listening: I just finished the first Flavia de Luce on Friday and will probably re-download the David Sedaris I was listening to on Monday. I'm on the waiting list for The Girl on the Train but it will be awhile!
Watching: I haven't actually watched it yet but I recorded A Bone to Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery a few days ago and I'm really excited. It's a Hallmark movie so I'm not expecting stunning quality but this the Aurora Teagarden series was my favorite of Charlaine Harris' books. As well I'm watching my usual shows and I'm kind of ridiculously excited that Deadliest Catch is back on.
Off the Blog:
Despite having the best intentions I still haven't gotten my garden in the ground. I'm hoping to go on a bit of a plant buying spree today if the rain holds off. I'm planning on trying lettuce this year which I'm kind of excited about. Also, I can't wait for garden fresh tomatoes! They're so much better than the grocery store version!
I have realized that school is going to be out in just over a month. The older ones are pretty low maintenance but I'm trying to get some ideas for the Tornado. He definitely needs some scheduled activities but finding that balance can be challenging. I did find these:
I discovered this recipe for Balsamic Honey Pulled Pork Sliders from Your Home Based Mom buried deep on my Sandwiches, Burgers, Pizza, and Tacos Board and they are freakishly good. I could seriously just drink the sauce. It makes a pretty good bit but it is easily re-heatable. I made if for dinner the other night and have been eating the leftovers for lunch since then. So good!

DeleteI'm with you, I think The Other Daughter sounds intriguing! Love that 1920s setting and I'm so curious about what the father is up to! And you can't beat home grown tomatoes, I love them!

I'm excited about The Other Daughter! I'm assuming at some point Great Expectations will end but it definitely doesn't seem like it!
DeleteI haven't read Jenn McKinlay's hat series, but I do love her cupcake shop books. I think I'll highlight those some weekend for the weekend cooking event. And, of course, I'm behind on that series too. :-)

DeleteI am waiting a few more weeks before planting my garden as well but I am just as excited as you are about it. My youngest LOVES tomatoes and eats them faster than I can grow them so we will definitely have a couple of tomato plants along with everything else. I have A Bone To Pick on my shelves and really should read it soon as I enjoyed Real Murder a lot. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Aurora Teagarden books and this was one of my favorite books! I'm very excited about it! I'm looking forward to tomatoes! That's great your littlest loves tomatoes. I'm hoping to talk mine into trying them this year.
DeleteI love the idea of a garden....but not the work involved...LOL. The last garden I had was in the 1970s....but I still recall how wonderful it was to have lots of zucchini and tomatoes.

Zucchini is a sneaky vegetable. Every few days I discover a giant one that wasn't there before. It does take a lot of work!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my garden started but the weather is just so weird. Probably closer to mother's day I will be able to do it My daughter never had home grown tomatoes and she loves tomatoes so I can't wait for her to try them.
ReplyDeleteMy mom will be home with the kids over the summer and she is like crafty gram lol so I know they will be well entertained and I plan to take them to the zoo and nature trails in the summer on my Fridays that I have off.

I love the 1920's setting for The Other Daughter. I want to plant but our weather makes me leery. I just need to be patient and continue with my indoor spring cleaning before moving outside.

ReplyDeleteI love the setting of the '20's. But I don't think I've really read anything in London from that period. It's usually NYC. I'll definitely watch out for your review.
ReplyDeleteI have a long list of tropes I love in my romances and 2nd chances are near the top. I love to learn about the history the couple shared and than to see them finally realize they're meant to be. Sigh. :)
I can't wait for my Nana's garden to bloom(when she can actually start on it). Her tomatoes and veggies are delicious. So right. Much better than the store.

ReplyDeleteThe Other Daughter is new to me, and sounds really good. So does your recipe for Pulled Pork Sliders! We don't eat pork, but I could easily substitute chicken for this and it would be fine. Have a good week.

ReplyDeleteI hope to plant herbs, vegetables, and fruit trees this summer when we landscape the backyard. I'm still agonizing over paint colour for the walls. I did just finish a book - The Shadowy Horses - of Susanna Kearsley. I really enjoyed it and downloaded another book of hers, The Winter Sea.

I'm curious what you are going to think about A Bone to Pick. I haven't read the books but have been interested in the series. I can't wait to get my garden in the ground but around here we don't plant it till right after mother's day. Usually there is no chance of freezing after that day. We'll see though.

That Dino kit looks like fun. We gave Mouse's best friend something similar for her birthday last year and I've been meaning to search one out for Mouse. I think she'd love it.
