This Week in Reading - February 8

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

The Moonsingers by Robin J. Pritzker - The cover caught my eye and I have been loving cozy fantasy.  (Publisher)

The Pie & Mash Detective Agency by J.D. Brinkworth - This sounds like a really fun cozy mystery (Publisher)

Currently:

Reading:  The Curious Case of the Poisoned Professor by Lucy Connelly and The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews

Listening:
The Spitfire Murders by Anna Elliott and Charles Veley

Slow Read: Stella Mia by Rosanna Chiofalo

Watching:  We are on countdown to Formula 1 starting back up so that will soon take over the bulk of our TV watching but until then we are watching Death in Pardise which we really enjoy though we only have a couple of seasons left.

I had migraines most of the week which made for not much happening and now has me feeling pretty wiped out.  I'm able to at least get some reading done now which is good. I did take some of the downtime to make a list of places I want to visit or things I want to learn how to do this year so I'm looking forward to getting started on that.

Have a good week and happy reading!

  1. I'm so sorry about the migraines. My daughter has had them but thankfully her current regimen is keeping them minimal. In 2024 though she had a migraine nearly every day of every month until September. There were pills, shots, IV diffusions to finally find what worked.

  2. Katherine, I'm also so sorry about your migraines. Hope they will pass. I am so ready for the cedar pollen to fly far, far away. I get sinus headaches from that and the pollen count here this weekend is extremely high. Sigh. One day, spring will come. We have enjoyed Death In Paradise too. Looking forward to the new season which should be coming soon.

  3. The Moonsingers cover is really pretty! I hope you enjoy it. I have found I really like cozy fantasy too. My husband is looking forward to Formula 1 starting up again too.

I am so sorry to hear about the migraines. I hope you are able to get some rest. They can be so debilitating. I hope this week is better for you. Take care.

  4. I hope you have gotten plenty of post-migraine rest. I used to get terrible migraines until I started watching for MSG in foods. People will tell you that the MSG connection is a myth, but a few times I accidentally ate foods with MSG unknowingly and had a migraine afterwards. That proves to me it's not in my head. I have a friend whose tongue and left cheek become numb when exposed to MSG. I ate at a Chinese restaurant in NYC with some friends, when I was in my mid-30s, and a couple of hours later I had a raging migraine and couldn't go to see the Broadway musical we had tickets for. The wife of one of my friends said her sister used to get migraines from MSG, so that's when I started watching out for it in foods. I don't know if you have ever considered MSG as a trigger. 🤔

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  5. We've been watxching The Patriot starring Terry O'Quibb and its very quirky. Micheal Dorman is a main character and we liked him For All Mankind, the alternate histroy about space missions. Can;t wait for that to come back.
So sorry to hear about your migraines and I hope you find a solution for it soon.
