What I Got:
Currently:
Reading: Digging Up the Dirt by Miranda James, finishing up A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, and The Sweeney Sisters by Lian Dolan
Listening: A little over halfway done with Lost Carousel of Provence by Juliet Blackwell and enjoying it.

Watching: We are kind of between shows right now. We tried a few things that didn't quite click with us so I'm looking for the next British crime show.

New week same story. We are still under a stay at home order and things are still progressing as usual. The Tornado is homeschooled anyway so school is progressing as normal though we are both dearly missing his co-op classes and the library clubs. My husband is still working from home which actually works really well for us and I'll be kind of sad when that part ends.
My mother found toilet paper at Costco and picked me up a pack because we were starting to run low. I traded her some face masks for them because the world is weird.
I actually left the house to go to two doctors appointments this week for the first time in over a month. It was strange being alone but kind of nice to be out. Masks were required at both doctors' offices and I probably would have worn one anyway. I'm not a fan. My face was about 200 degrees and my eyelashes kept getting stuck in the top of the mask when I was looking down to fill out paperwork.
I made this chicken dish from Cookies and Cups for dinner and remembered why it was a favorite.
I made a cake with this cream cheese frosting from Five Heart Home. Cream cheese frosting will always be better then buttercream in my opinion and this was pretty good!

Have a great week and happy reading!
"because the world is weird" haha so true and this made me laugh. How different things are now! We're doing okay with TP at the moment but it's hit or miss!
ReplyDeleteI think too it will be weird when many people working from home now go back, it will be such an adjustment again!
I need to find some good new crime shows too (preferably British)!
It sure is weird times. I can't believe there is still a shortage of toilet paper for you. I saw my niece calling out for baking powder and baking soda the other day so that must be short here. I happened to get some of that before we went into lockdown. Nice to get no books, gives you a breathing space!
ReplyDeleteI totally laughed out loud about the toilet paper/mask exchange. My husband came home last week after going to a grocery store we never visit in another city and acted like a hero that he found toilet paper AND paper towels. We were just about out of paper towels and low on tp. It is definitely a weird world we live in right now. I meant to sew some masks, but haven't gotten to it, so I ordered some for a decent price so that we'll be reading when we go out in the world again. I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteMy Weekly Update
I love the toilet paper - mask barter. Where did the world come to! I hope you dont run out of either. Stay home and safe

The world is definitely weird these days. I'm still waiting for my shipment of cloth masks, so I'm wearing a home-made folded thing that I slip on with hair elastics.
ReplyDeleteWe actually have absolutely everything at supermarkets here, I even found yeast this week, so I'm making cinnamon rolls. I need the comfort from my childhood, I think.
Have a wonderful week ahead. Stay safe and healthy!

Toilet roll for Face Masks...what a weird world we are living in right now. I haven't worn a mask yet, but have some arriving next week. So will wear one then if I really have to go to a shop, which so far I've avoided.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, the world is definitely weird! I wonder how we will write about all of this when we look back on it all.
ReplyDeleteI like Miranda James's books and haven't read one in a while.
I am a fan of cream cheese frosting!
Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
I'm glad it's not just me doing quarantine book shopping, ha. But I was surprisingly short on books this week, too! We've done some weird trades for facemasks -- we traded my parents two facemasks for a box of books my mum wanted to recommend me, haha.
ReplyDeleteHere's my weekly roundup post!
Yes everything is weird but not all bad. Your husband working at home works better for you. And yes cream cheese frosting is the best!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and be well!
Anne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
The barter system is back in place, I will give you this for that! :) That is how it use to be if you ask my older friends. :)
ReplyDeleteYou got no books and I think I got all the books...lol.
Stay safe and happy reading!

Week in Review
I hope you are enjoying your current reads. I keep hearing good things about A Gentleman in Moscow. Face masks are hard to get used to, aren't they? I have to wear once at work all day on Fridays since I'm in the office. We're supposed to wear them at our desks now too even when no one is around. It's hard to talk on the phone with one. And yes, it gets pretty warm.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good week. Enjoy your reading.
100% yes, cream cheese frosting is the best! I had to laugh about your eyelashes, you must have some long eyelashes. Or I'm wearing my mask wrong (I have glasses too though)
ReplyDeleteAnd this " I traded her some face masks for them because the world is weird." yep it so is. Trading toilet paper for face masks. Who would have every dreamt it?
Have a great week and stay safe!
The world is indeed weird. We're still school-ing and working from home, but the schooling is a pretty lame effort sometimes ;) Luckily both of my kids were doing fine before, so I'm sure they'll catch up. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteYes... I've read a lot of apocalyptic sci fi novels with pandemics, etc - but I don't ever recall any concerns regarding toilet paper, though bartering became a thing:)). And my sister would feel your pain - she has to wear a mask as a key worker and says by the end of the day she is exhausted because she gets so very hot. I hope the coming week is another peaceful, healthy one.
ReplyDeleteCream cheese frosting is the only kind I like! IT definitely is a strange world though!
ReplyDeleteI hope it treats you well this week! Happy reading!

"the world is weird" sums it up well. I made a mask last night using a bandana, pony tail holders, and a shoelace. Hardly medical grade, but better than no mask.
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding a new crime show. I think I may try Acorn free for 30 days, see what I can watch.
Have a good week, and happy reading.
My Sunday post.
I hate face masks! Hate them! I had a bandanna at the store and I eventually took it off because it kept falling off anyway. Today,I tried my daughter's muff thing and it only stayed on if I put it under my glasses so that they could hold it up. It is taking me forever to get through any shows. I am trying to watch The Witcher with my daughter but she always has homework. I still have not found toilet paper at a story. My mom gave me some and my daughter picked up a roll in her small college town when she needed to go there. I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteIt really is weird when you finally get outside. The face masks make it difficult for me to breath so I try to get back home as quickly as possible. Hope you have a great week. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteTimes do feel surreal right now. I wonder if it will ever feel normal again.
ReplyDeleteThe recipes you picked for the week sound good. Yeah, cream cheese rocks. My husband bought some cream cheese via Instacart so I can make carrot cake bars. I made Nestle's cookies today and have been knitting a bit every day but not all day so I won't irritate my tendonitits.
ReplyDeleteYes, Katherine, the world is weird. You nailed it! I feel like we are in the Upside down. A woman who was positive for Covid-19 was among the protesters in NC ...why? Be safe!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I thought having my boyfriend work from home would be really distracting, but it's kind of nice having him around. I'll miss our periodic "so, how's it going"s from across the office when he goes back. Have a great week and stay well!
ReplyDeleteWe have mandatory masks here in NYS, now. I hope my county starts taking a down turn in cases, so I can hug my son again! It's really depressing having to stay out of the same room and not be able to cook and share a meal together. 😛
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear you are all doing well! 🌞
I've been doing some major shopping as well but for stuff around the house lol. We're starting to run low on toilet paper. We were lucky that we got Costco toilet paper before any of this happened but that supply is running a bit low and I'm getting nervous! I do nottttt want to go to Costco at all and my local grocery store never has any! Maybe I should ask if they have some in the back. Maybe they're hiding it lol
ReplyDeleteThe masks do take a bit of getting used to! I've been using them since our lockdown began and that first day I had trouble breathing in it! Masks are not compulsory or even advised here yet but I'm taking it as an extra precaution. I've been reading, watching TV and constructing a Harry Potter puzzle this week.
