It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
Lost Books and Old Bones by Paige Shelton - I've enjoyed other books by Paige Shelton and there was no way I could resist the title or the back that it takes place in a bookshop in Scotland (Publisher)
Antique Blues by Jane K. Cleland - I've been really into antiques lately so a cozy series set around an appraiser seemed like perfect reading! (Publisher)
The Spook in the Stacks by Eva Gates - I was really sad when I heard that the Lighthouse Library series had been cancelled and really excited when I heard that Gates had found a new publisher! (NetGalley)
Read and Gone by Allison Brook - When I saw the 2nd book in the haunted library series I couldn't hit request fast enough. Now I can't wait to read it! (NetGalley)
Currently:
Reading: I just finished A Muddied Murder by Wendy Tyson and am about to start Clairvoyant and Present Danger by Lena Gregory. I'm also reading Making the Monster: the Science Behind Mary Shelley's Frankenstein by Kathryn Harkup.
Listening: As You Wish by Cary Elwes about the making of The Princess Bride which I'm loving
Watching: Well I really want to watch The Princess Bride again but I'm trying to wait till I finish the book. I've had a lot of true crime playing in the background lately and J and I have been enjoying Top Chef. For family movie night we watched an Odd Squad movie which was fun. Odd Squad is one of the few kids shows that I actually enjoy - I wouldn't watch it by myself but it's pretty fun.
Off the Blog:
This week was on the quiet side. The Tornado ended up being sick for the last half. I was worried at first that it was the flu but his fever quickly went away and he's feeling much better so I think we're good. I am keeping an eye on him though. Because he was sick he missed out on the campout at the school but was able to make the Pine Wood derby races yesterday.
I'm halfway through one of the 30 day Yoga Challenges on Yoga With Adriene's YouTube channel and I'm loving it! I can definitely tell my flexibility is getting better and I feel stronger. I'm doing the 31 Day Yoga Revolution but she has a few others so I'm trying to decide what do next.
A few people have asked about my older kids. Since they're not as much part of day to day life they don't come up as much so here's a quick update. Eleanor got married this summer and she and her husband have moved into an apartment complex that's not too far away. And the exciting news is that they're expecting their first baby late this spring! We're all very excited. Emma is still at school and is finishing up her 3rd year. For some reason she wants to teach government or history to high school students. She's engaged to her boyfriend of several years who is currently in law school. Paul is taking a bit of break from school and has moved into a house with some friends and is working full time deciding what he wants to do.
I've been toying with the idea of adding a classic movie review feature once a month or so. What do you think? I've been watching quite a number of them with my grandfather on my monthly visits and just enjoy most on my own. I'm kind of informally working on my "Must Watch" list. Would anyone be interested in this?

Ooh, your books look so good! Lost Books and Old Bones grabbed me.
ReplyDeleteAs for classic movies, I recorded Vertigo today and hope to watch it this weekend. There is something special about Alfred Hitchcock movies.
Enjoy your week!
Scotland and a bookshop? I don't blame you one bit! Looks awesomely fun. And I think I remeber seeing the Lighthouse Library mysteries a year or so ago, I haven't read a cozy in so long, but if they got canceled but then picked up by another publisher, that's grat news!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a classic movie review feature, I hope you decide to do it!! How fun.
Love the cover of that cosy mystery! I'd love to read some classic movie reviews - I love classic movies but don't get to watch as many as I'd like to. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSome fun cozies and new authors for me too. Thanks for sharing about your kids. Congrats on soon becoming grandparents and I hope your young one feels better soon:)
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I would totally read classic movie reviews! I love classic movies, but haven't watched as many since we cut cable. I would love to get some recommendations and see what people think in the comments. (My all time favorite movie is Singing in the Rain - BTW)
ReplyDeleteA classic movie feature sounds like a great idea. I would read it.
ReplyDeleteThe science behind Frankenstein sounds great :) and Adrienne's channel is amazing! Although I've never done the 30 day challenge.
ReplyDeleteI am still enjoying Top Chef too. Sorry Tornado got sick. The worst. But yay for a new baby. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAll your new books look good - lots of bookshops and libraries - always a plus. Glad your kiddo didn't have the flu. It's everywhere - still. I think a classic movie feature would be wonderful. I'd love to read it. Of course, I love anything nostalgic and looking back. I hate to think that so many books, movies, TV shows are going to fade in memory. Oh, and yay for the new baby! How fun for you guys!
ReplyDeleteFun cozy titles to browse over! Nice to hear about your "big kids". Yay for the new baby to join your family this year.
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy a classic movie review. I have fond memories of watching them with my parents, separately, because they had different taste in films :)
I am so jealous, I have been wanting to do the 30 day Yoga With Adriene but just can't seem to find the time to fit it in every day but it's one of my main goals.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the little guy didn't have the flu! It has been so bad this year.
Honestly I didn't realize you had that many kids, not that 4 is a lot but I don't know why I didn't realize that until right now, lol but congrats on the first Grand baby!
Classic movies are my favorite and it would be fun to look back. Two of my favorites is Westward the Woman (if you never watched it you must) and Meet me in St. Louis...OH and I can't forget 7 brides for 7 brothers. I watch all of those a million times.
I hope you have a great week, Katherine! Happy Reading! ox
Yoga sounds both painful yet something I really need to do - I think the closest I came to ever doing any yoga was using the Wii haha. Hope you have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteGlad that your kids are doing well and I need to try out this Yoga Challenge myself!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post !
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I'm happy the little man is getting well. There is a fine line between flu and a virus and with the flu being so intense this year...Congrats on the wedding of your daughter and the soon-to-be arrival of your first grandchild! How exciting. What is she having?
ReplyDeleteOh and I'll check out the yoga. I should practice every day but I don't.
DeleteAll of those cozy mysteries! I can't wait to hear your thoughts as those are all new to me series :) In regards to your old movie reviews, I would definitely enjoy hearing your thoughts on them! My daughter was sick this week as well so I feel you there. She is doing much better today though which helps out a lot!
ReplyDeleteYoga with Adriene is amazing!! I started following her channel a year ago and just finished the 2018 30 Day Challenge. I hope you stick with it and keep us updated; it's such a fun journey, no matter what direction you decide to go :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mention my oldest child on my blog a whole lot either. She is self sufficent and not around all that much. I would say yes to the classic movie reviews. I don't watch a lot of movies but like to see review so that I have an idea of what I will like when I did watch one.
ReplyDeleteI hope your son stays well. Too bad he had to miss his campout :( Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
I need to check out the yoga challenge. I used to practice regularly but got out of the habit. I miss it. Glad to hear your son is feeling better. The flu is kind of scary this year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books and have a good week!
I should start doing yoga. I think it would help me a lot. Glad you guys are flu free! I thought I had it two weeks ago, but it was a viral infection. I had been prescribed Tamiflu so I took it. And now I have another viral infection!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad Tornado is feeling better. Enjoy your new books, and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm glad he's feeling better. That flu is going around everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI just added As You Wish to my audible wish list. I NEED to read that. Glad it's good. :)
Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen
In my family we must have watched The Princess Bride at least half a dozen times, and we love it every time.
ReplyDeleteOh whew. Glad the kidlet is doing okay. Ahh Adriene. She about killed me. I need a pre-
ReplyDeletebeginners class. lol Good luck with the rest of the challenge :)
Gosh, this flu thing has everyone at work paranoid, has me using that hand sanitizer junk to point of my hands getting so dry. Glad he is feeling better and it wasn't flu.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hearing about your other kids and congrats on the baby news!
Classic movies would be great to read about, in my opinion. We recently watched Casablanca, a great classic. I'm getting burnt out on the blogging (don't know how you can do it everyday!) and may take a break from my food blog for a bit. There is that BBC book list I found and I wanted to start tacking it and taking it slow. So Novel Meals will stay up and running at a slower pace!
Oh you got some great books! I am so glad to see that Eva Gates series is going to continue! Go for it withe the classic movie reviews, I love classics!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I love Paige Shelton's books. These look good too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Eleanor! And you too, grandma! Happy to hear that The Tornado got over his illness quickly because that super flu was never-ending. The Frankenstein science book sounds great. I'm going to add it to my Goodreads. I say two thumbs up to a classic movies post, oldster that I am! I hope your week has started out great. 💜
ReplyDeleteI need to catch up on the Paige Shelton series, and read the Lighthouse mysteries, too. They've always looked appealing! I'm glad the Tornado is over whatever he had, and that you didn't come down with it. And thanks for the update on your older kids... and congratulations and best wishes to Eleanor and her husband on the impending arrival!
ReplyDeleteI hope the Tornado is doing better. We've had strep throat go through here. Congratulations for the upcoming arrival of the new baby!!! That's so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI want to read As You Wish. I'm going to have to check it out soon.
So many great books! I am looking forward to reading a few of those as well. I am glad you are enjoying As You Wish. It is great in audio! Odd Squad is very popular in our house too. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Eleanor and her husband! You must be so excited! I am sorry to hear that Tornado has been sick. I hope he is feeling much better.
I hope you have a great week, Katherine!
