This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
You're volunteering to read a book to a group of young children at the library. What scary themed book for kids would you read them?
My Answer:
If we're talking preschool age and down I think I would pick The Spooky Wheels on the Bus by J. Elizabeth Mills. Any book you can sing is always a hit with the younger crowd and I've sung this one about a million times. Another good choice would be Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins by James Dean because who doesn't love Pete the Cat? Both of these would be a hit with my 5 year old!
The Beginning:
Sunday, 28 June, 1914
It was a fine summer's day in England.
In fact, one of a string of bright days, languid and unhurried, full of promise.
My Thoughts:
I can just picture the day and see couples strolling through a garden enjoying the beautiful weather. It does make me feel like there is danger in the distance to muck up all this perfection.
The 56:
There was someone in the nave. Rutledge had seen the flash of a white shirt before the man moved out of sight behind a portion of the wall that had once been part of the north transept.
My Thoughts:
Someone is up to to know good and nave is a word that isn't used often enough. I do love a good ruin!

ReplyDeleteIf the kids were really young and didn't want to sit through a long story, I would definitely choose Scary Scary Halloween by Eve Bunting. She wrote and illustrated it, I believe. My kids' hands-down favorite book, and my son kept checking it out even in Summer :) I think I might still know the prose by heart.
