Life With Leukemia (And Some Reading) - August 8

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Deadly Summer Nights by Vicki Delany
- I really enjoy other books from this author so I absolutely could not resist this first in a historical mystery series.  (from Publisher)

The Chuckling Fingers by Mabel Seeley - I read another book by this author a few months ago and really enjoyed discovering this American classic mystery author.  I'm looking forward to this one as well.  (from Publisher)

Death of a Red-Hot Rancher by Mimi Granger - I don't know much about this series or this author but it looks like a fun read so I thought I'd give it a try.  (from Publisher)

Currently:

Reading:  Railroaded 4 Murder by J.C. Eaton and Mastering the Art of French Eating by Ann Mah

Listening:  The Corpse at the Crystal Palace by Carola Dunn

We had a pretty good week!  Will was feeling pretty good and had decent energy - and is sleeping pretty well which is very much connected.  His appetite is still really low and the last few rounds of chemo have suppressed his immune system to just about nothing so we stayed at home this week.   He played video games and we had a lot of Nerf gun battles.  We had planned on starting school Monday but because some of his friends don't start till this Monday he talked me into waiting so he could play online with them for longer.  So THIS week we are starting school which includes an hour long in person class on Thursday!  Since it's a homeschool group the class size is only seven kids and the teacher is super careful.  We got the class safety precaution plan approved by his oncologists and we are good to go!  It's physics so he is really looking forward to the subject matter and I'm excited (and nervous) for him to be around other kids in person.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  2. I've got ARCs for Deadly Summer Nights and Death of a Red-Hot Rancher as well. The third one intrigued me, but I just don't have time in my September schedule. It's pretty much packed as it is.

FYI Mimi Granger is the latest pen name for Kylie Logan. As a result, I'm looking forward to this new book.

Deadly Summer Nights looks good. I have been cautious about picking up too many new ARCs, but I might have to request that one. I do enjoy Vicki Delany!

Have a good week, and enjoy your new books.

  10. I hope it's a great week with school starting. I'm glad Will felt pretty good for his last week of summer break.

I'm not sure of his exact age so he might be a little young for this but Mark Lawrence has a gamer trilogy where the main character has cancer (and survives). He might enjoy it at some point.

  19. It is hard to think that school is already back in session. I am glad that Will is going to be able to take an in-person class this year. I hope that you have a great week and enjoy all of your new books.

  20. It'll be nice for him to be around other kids in person even for just a little while each week. I understand your nervousness. Even though my girls are inoculated, with this Delta Variant around and not knowing who's vaccinated...
