Happy New Year everyone! This feature has been run for years by the amazing Sheila over at Book Journey and it is so fun to see what everyone has picked for their first book of the year and why. I didn't get my act together enough to send in a picture (or take a picture) so I'm participating unofficially. For 2021 my goals are a bit loose. My primary focus is trying to catch up on series that I have neglected or left unfinished. I also want to read more of my own books and focus less on review books.
My First Book of 2021:
Live and Let Pie by Ellie Alexander - This is a series I'm caught up on except for this one which is kind of in the middle that I somehow weirdly missed.
My First Kindle Book of 2021
The Last Garden in England by Julia Kelly - This one just looks gorgeous and my friend Tina really enjoyed it so I'm excited to read it!
My First Audio Book of 2021
The Shadow Sister by Lucinda Riley - This is the 3rd book in a series that I've been enjoying but making very slow progress on.
My First Library Book of 2021:
What books are you starting 2021 with?
Great haul to start the new year with! I only saw The first book of the year meme this morning, so I also didn't send in a photo. I just did my normal Weekend Book Friends and put my first book on there.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED The Shadow Sister. Think you will too. Solutions and other problems sounds like a lot of fun. Awesome title! I've seen The Last Garden in England. It might actually be on my Kindle as well... Will quickly go and have a look.
Happy New Year Katherine!
Lots of love,
Elza Reads
That’s a lot of firsts, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy and healthy new year!
I'm reading Pie Academy, so I think that makes us baking twins today.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about doing a first kindle book . . . What a great idea! Your first books all sound good, Katherine. My husband read Solutions and Other Problems and loved it. I still need to read her first book, but I hope to read both at some point. Wishing you a wonderful reading year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I love Solutions and Other Problems, it’s much bigger than the first one but still as good.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Katherine! Wishing you and your family a happier, healthier 2021.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I want to concentrate less on review books too, although I still have some that were already scheduled and I'll read those. Hope 2021 is a better year! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGood picks for First Books. I also read more of my own books this year...and plan to do the same in 2021. I feel so much stress if I have deadlines, which happens when I have review books.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these tempting titles.
I love that you picked a first book in every format! I have no idea what my first read will be. I haven't felt like reading so far today so it is still up in the air.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous set of books, hope you love them all. Yes one of my goals is to really read what interests me or I want to try - like cozy mystery series! I have three on the go with one on audio at night, set it for 45 min but fell asleep, so had to roll it back this a.m! Hope you enjoy the Shadow Sister. They are all good but so.... long!!
ReplyDeleteThese look fun. I've been wanting to try Allie Brosh.
ReplyDeleteThe Shadow Sister was good!
ReplyDeleteI need to read one of the Brosh books. They look fun! 👏👏👏✨
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I started with two books of cartoons by UK journalists which cover last year's news events. It was a night light read to start the year! Haven't touched the e-readers yet!
ReplyDeleteRiley's series is another I want to continue. My first book is The Duke Who Didn't and it's pretty good, a little slow in places and definitely different from the usual bodice rippers.
