I'm taking a bit of a break from my usual Friday Linkups to try something a little different. Michelle over at Because Reading is Better Than Real Life used to do a Five on Fridays that I always enjoyed and I've seen a few other variations on the theme. As well I'm in a list making kind of mood so I thought I'd give start making random five lists. Sometimes they'll be bookish other weeks not so much. I've been listening to audio books pretty regularly in the last few months so I thought I'd take a look at the narrators I've really enjoyed.
1. C.S.E. Cooney - Cooney is the narrator for the Witch City Mysteries and has done such a fantastic job with them. I love this mystery series and her voice really fits my idea of how Lee would sound.
2. Anne-Marie Piazza - I absolutely adored her narration of Murder in the East End. So much so that I immediately looked up her name to find out what other books she narrates.
3. Kate Reading - I have enjoyed Reading's narration for quite some time so I was so excited to see that she was the narrator on The Hollow of Fear.
4. Hugh Fraser - I have long been a fan of Fraser's portrayal of Captain Hastings on the Poirot series and I was not surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed his reading of this Poirot book!
5. Heather Wilds - I hadn't come across this narrator before but I have thoroughly enjoyed her reading of This Side of Murder. I can't wait to continue the series in audio!
Are you an audio book lover? Who are some of your favorite narrators at the moment?
I do need to get my hands on one of the Agatha Christies where Hugh Fraser reads it. I know I will love it too!
ReplyDeleteWeekend Book Friends #12 today and I gave you a shout-out! Shared your review as well.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I've featured Hallowe'en Party for my
I've only listened to Kate Reading, but love her. I will check out the others.
ReplyDeleteI’ve not listened to any of these. I enjoy Julia Whelan, Kristen Potter, Andi Arndt, Nicole Poole, Sebastian York, Erin Mellon, Zachary Webber, Teddy Hamilton, Amanda Ronconi, Shane East, Tania Eby, Kate Rudd. Lots of others as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's been some time since I've listened to an audiobook because I was binging on Netflix. It's always a plus to find a good audio narrator. The woman who does it for the Flavia de Luce series is good. Of course I loved Jim Dale for the Harry Potter books. The guy who does it for the Artemis Fowl series is good too; I don't know if your son has read this series but it's a good one for boys. The movie for the first book was good too.
ReplyDeleteOh and to comment on your comment on my sewing post:
😂 I understand. Seam allowance is the distance you sew away from the edges of the fabric. The pattern’s SA is 3/8″. Tension has to do with how tight the top thread and hmthe bobbin bottom thread come out. This depends upon the material you’re sewing with. The length and the width of your stitches can be adjusted as well. If you look on the inside of your shirt, you will most likely see the edges of fabric wrapped in thread. They have probably been serged. A serger finishes off the edges so there is no unraveling of the raw fabric. I don’t have this machine so using the zig zag stitch on mine is another way to finish off edges.
I've only tried Hugh Fraser and thought he was very good.
ReplyDeleteI've only listened to Reading and Piazza - both wonderful! I'm listening to Louise Penny's Three Pines series (slowly) but loving the narrator.
ReplyDeleteC.S.E. Cooney is one of my favorite ones too!
ReplyDeleteMmm I enjoyed Piazza with some Jenny Colgan books and I see I can only get one of the Sherry Thomas books #4 in that series but will put it in my wishlist for later.
ReplyDeleteI can't get used to audiobooks. I have been trying but I can't concentrate :@ Maybe I just need some practice jaja
ReplyDeleteThese all look good. I have a few of these on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI need to start a list of favorite narrators. Thanks for sharing yours! 🎧
