This Week in Reading - June 2

It's Sunday Post time!  This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.

What I Got:

Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter - I'm looking forward to this one because I've been wanting to read Karin Slaughter for ages and this one looks really good.  (TLC Blog Tour)

Currently:

Reading:  The Right Sort of Man by Allison Montclair and

Listening:  Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan though I'm making slow work of it.  It's good but I just haven't had much listening time with school out.

Watching:  Catching up on NCIS: New Orleans.  It's not my favorite but I do appreciate that it actually looks like New Orleans/ South Mississippi and the accents are right.

Off the Blog:

Our first full week of summer vacation is over and done with and we are thoroughly enjoying it.  This week we're starting more on a routine though laziness is still front and center.

I start physical therapy this week and have my follow up with my doctor regarding the degenerative disc disease diagnosis.  I'm looking forward to getting things started and hopefully feeling better.  Other than that not much going on.  I've gotten some reading done and have played lots of Minecraft with a 9 year old.  I HATE Minecraft but I'm trading it for reading time so I guess it's worth it.

On the Blog:

  2. All the best with the minecraft and the reading ploy! Hope the physical therapy helps. Karin Slaughter is a good writer, a little graphic for me, but can still appreciate her.

  3. Lol, I trade Minecraft for me time too...
We often have all of us playing in a family realm as 'family time' because it causes less stress than board games. :/

  7. I'm glad you are enjoying your summer! Maybe they could start a Minecraft club at the library and take some of the Minecraft burden off you. Or maybe you could organize one....

    Enjoy your week!

  11. I love Minecraft! My kids don't play anymore but I sometimes will play by myself. I like building stuff and exploring. I just hate the Witches they always seem to show up when I am trying to do something and kill me.

I hope you have a great week, Katherine! Happy Reading! xx

  12. Ha ha. Laziness is the name of our summer game! We should get some kind of a routine going because all my kids are doing is swimming and sitting around watching t.v. I've already heard "I'm bored" about three million times and my kids have only been out for a week and a half! Heaven help me.

  13. Enjoy your summer vacation! Perhaps Minecraft will grow on you? Trading it for reading time is a good idea. And I hope the PT helps. It made a huge difference for my frozen shoulder, but of course, that's a totally different issue.

I am glad you are enjoying your summer break so far. :-) Mouse had her first school free day on Friday. I hope the physical therapy goes well and you notice improvement! Have a great week, Katherine!

  19. There was an article I found recently about how to raise kids so you don't go through the teen defiance/angst phase in the parent/child relationship, and one of the suggestions was to play video games with them; which we did with Baz. I was curious to see their suggestions because I had almost zero problem with him as a teen, and sure enough I had done all of the things. The only activity I would have added to their list was cooking/baking together. 👍✨

Good luck with your PT and follow up. Chronic pain is a real drag. ((((hugs))))

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞
