Friday Linkups: Meet Me in Atlantis

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you have a YouTube channel?  If so, do you post review blogs?

My Answer:
I don't but lately I've been obsessed with YouTube but haven't found many book channels.  If you have a channel or have a favorite book channel please let me know!

This week's book is one I picked up at a trip to Parnassus Books in Nashville.  I had to buy a book and I love travel/project memoirs so Meet Me in Atlantis by Mark Adams looked perfect.  And now two years later I'm actually going to start it!

The Beginning:
We had just met the previous week in Bonn, my new German acquaintance and I, and here we were on the west coast of Africa on a hot Thursday morning, looking for an underwater city in the middle of the dessert.

My Thoughts:
That sounds like a fun adventure but I think I'd want to know the person I was traveling with a bit longer than a week.  Travelling doesn't always bring out the best in people!

The 56:
Here the inhabitants lived on the sweet fruits of a flowering plant "so delicious that those who ate of it left off caring about home." Homer may have been describing the Tunisian island of Djerba, where date palms grew plentifully and still do.

My Thoughts:
I love this kind of theorizing - trying to find the truth in legends.

So what do you think?  Keep reading?  Any favorite YouTubers?

  2. Nope, I use YouTube but don't do videos on it. You aren't ever seeing Chuckles on camera!

  3. An underwater city in the desert? Does that really exist? Fascinating. My Friday Quotes

  5. Sounds like an interesting story. I prefer to do my traveling via armchair. This week I'm spotlighting The Plot is Murder by V. M. Burns - a mystery within a mystery from my TBR mountain. Happy reading!

  6. I do not have an account. I also do not go on the site very often.

Nice they have book channels. I'm not really familiar with it.

Have fun if you find some channels.

  9. I do have a YouTube Channel, and it's recently had an overhaul, since I'm starting to share more of my reviews over there - not just books. A lot of my stuff is very old - plus I have a few RAT videos I did for a laugh.

I'm OhSassyOne lol I follow back anyone who follows me :-) OhSassyOne

  11. I haven't see any book podcasts. That would be interesting to view one. All of the podcasts I watch are by knitters.
Yeah, I feel lazy having to get dressed and slappin' on some make up. But I was really glad I went out w/the neighbors. One of them I see about once a month at Craft Night and the other our kids carpool together.

  13. If you are looking for YouTube book channels try searching "booktube". There are loads and loads of accounts out there. You'll notice a predominance for YA works, but there are others too. I do a monthly reading wrap-up on my channel.

  14. I couldn't imagine traveling with someone that I had only known for a week! That sounds kind of scary! I try to stay away from YouTube since I usually end up watching some strange things when I do visit the site.

  15. Oh, definitely keep reading. I might add this to my tbr!

  16. Maybe if the book vlogs were shorter I could do them but they all seem to go on 15+ minutes for one book review and I just...can't. lol
