Friday LInkups - Death in the Stacks

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Can you say this about yourself?  Nothing makes me happier than sitting down with a good book.

My Answer:
I can definitely say that sitting down with a good book is one of my absolute favorite things - especially when it's one of those magic books that hooks me and really pulls me in.  However, I'm not sure that I'd say it's the very best of things but it's definitely in the top 5.

This week's book is a new book in one of my favorite series.  I love cozy mysteries and I love libraries so a cozy mystery set in a library is pretty fantastic.  Of course I can't pass up Death in the Stacks by Jenn McKinlay.  I especially love that there's a dog instead of the usual cat on the cover!

The Beginning:
September in New England was about as perfect as a season as there was on earth.

My Thoughts:
September in Alabama is still freakishly hot and humid so now I'm thinking of heading up to New England in a month!

The 56:
"I'm the president of the library board.  Me.  I am the one who decides who is hired and who is fired and how things -".
Pop!  The sound cut out on Olive's microphone.

My Thoughts:
Well Olive sounds like a delight to work with/for.  Normally if people start throwing around just how important they are bad things are going to happen!

So what do you think?  Keep reading?

  1. Nice to see a dog instead of a cat on the cover. I'm not a cat fan!

  5. This sounds like a great series. I, too, enjoy cozies and libraries. This week I have Guilt by Degrees by Marcia Clark from my TBR mountain. Happy reading!

  6. This book does sound good...and I do love fall in New England, even though I only spent one autumn weekend there years ago (Boston, Cape Cod). I still love the magic of it.

I also love curling up with a good book, a favorite thing; but a good movie does it for me, too.

  9. Wow. Olive sounds so self-important. I definitely agree with your assessment about what happens when people start throwing around their "power". I'd probably keep reading.

Have a great weekend. - Katie

  17. This is a very interesting question, and there are several opinions on the matter. For me, NOTHING beats settling into my favorite reading nook with a good book. Well, except perhaps for blogging about books! That gives me nearly as much pleasure as reading. However, I think I do get even MORE pleasure from reading! :)

Oh, another cozy for me to add to my Goodreads shelves! Yeah, mysteries set in libraries sound like great reading! Hope you enjoy this one! (And I hope I start dipping into my list of cozies on GR....lol.)

Thanks for sharing! Thanks as well for commenting on my BBH post!! <3 :)

  19. I used to say I read because I wanted to know about someone else's life, or lives. I wanted to know what it felt like to become another person for a while, while divulging in their setting, family life, school, relationships and more. But now, I read because I love the stories behind them. http://poemsbyayoungartist.blogspot.com/2018/08/bookbloggerhop-august-10-16-why-do-i.html
