Friday Linkups - A Just Clause

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
You have just won a $100 Visa Gift Card.  Will you spend the entire amount on a rare collector's edition you have always wanted, or buy several newly published books?

My Answer:
I'd probably buy several newly published books.  I don't really collect certain editions of books so unless there was something like a signed Agatha Christie mystery I think I'd be more tempted by something shiny and new.

This week's book is A Just Clause by Lorna Barrett.  This is a series set in Booktown, Vermont which is a fictional city filled with different bookstores.  I like this series but because I hope that by reading it such a place will suddenly exist!

The Beginning:
Tricia Miles almost always felt a thrill to host a book signing at her bookstore, Haven't Got a Clue, especially when it involved a favorite author.

My Thoughts:
I think I'd be pretty excited for this too!

The 56:
Why upset Andrea?  She was upset enough for both of them.

My Thoughts:
I hate when I want to talk to someone about something but it's not worth upsetting them!

So what do you think?  Keep reading?

  1. Haven't Got A Clue- cool name for a bookstore! I'd go there. :) And the whole town sounds pretty fabulous, actually!

Same here with the gift card. I'd mostly like get some new releases!

  2. Wow! Wouldn't that be cool if that was a real city filled with tons of libraries and bookstores? Absolutely - $100 would go a long way in getting some new releases! Hugs and Happy Friday! RO

  3. I am with you - I would buy new books. I am not into rare editions or what not. Hope you enjoy your read!

  4. I've read one or two in this series and was intrigued too by a town filled with bookshops. Ha! As to the gift card - well, I'd buy new books too. Or at least books that are 'new to me'. I do have a few older books that I've collected, but I like to find them at antique shops and places like that. I will say that a lot of people are getting much more savvy about 'collectibles' in the book realm. The bargains are harder to find.

  5. Another tempting book!

I would also buy several new books with the gift card...and have done just that.

  6. Like you I would buy several new books. I only collect books I want to read and only keeps books I plan to read again. This week I have Girl With a Gun by Kari Bovee - a historical mystery from my review stack. Happy reading!

  7. I totally agree about hoping a city full of bookstores would come true. Actually, we do pretty well where I live.

  9. Love Agatha Chritie's books.

Thanks for sharing what you would do.

  10. Great answer! I definitely know what you mean and I would do the same. Unless there was a specific edition that I felt like I HAD to have, then I'd prefer to spend the money on new books by different authors and genres to explore different reading preferences.

Feel free to check out my own answer if you wish!

  12. I totally relate to not wanted to upset someone more even when you need to talk to them. A fictional city filled with bookstores? Sounds like heaven. Happy weekend!

  13. I'd answer the same for the GC use. I think I'd keep going with the mystery book.

  14. More cats. I feel like you can't have a cosy mystery without a cat on the cover! :) *smile*

  15. Love the bookstore name. Hmm, the $100 questions isn't really fair, some special editions of books cost more, but it would be cool.

  16. Honestly, if someone gave me a $100 gift card it would probably end up going for something for my family. When I buy print books, I am much more likely to buy something that my daughter would enjoy than just something for myself. Not that I don't buy books for myself but those are usually ebooks or audiobooks.

  17. I'd probably keep reading...and a book signing would definitely get me excited as well.

Have a great weekend. - Katie

  18. I’m not a book collector, so I don’t care about fancy editions. I’d buy as many books as possible with that $100.

  19. I agree. I think I'd go with multiple books. Like you, I am not much of a collector of special editions. I would definitely continue reading A Just Clause!

  22. Katherine, I answered the same as most. I'm yet to find someone that has chosen collectors edition, but for me, it depends on my wishlist. If for example I had something I wanted from The Folio Society, I'd have easily gotten that over a few books.
