This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Have you ever found yourself acting like a favorite character in a novel? If so which one?
My Answer:
As far as I recall I've never found myself acting like a favorite character though when I was a kid I desperately wanted to be Nancy Drew. I do find myself picking up slang or phrasing - especially if I'm reading a lot of British mysteries.
The Beginning:
I set the sandwich on top of the dresser. I could tell right away that Elvis was not sold on my idea of supper.
My Thoughts:
Not the most exciting beginning but I did find it funny that after a full paragraph talking about Elvis' disapproval of her supper she reveals he is a cat.
The 56:
Glenn offered his cube truck and I think I'll take him up on that.
My Thoughts:
Page 56 wasn't all that exciting as it's mostly two characters talking about decorating store windows but this 56 could mean a few different things. In this case I think it's mostly about picking up an inventory from an estate sale.

I wanted to be one of the characters in Barbara Cartland novels because they were all beautiful with these really tiny waists.(lol) Love that cover! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever acted like a favorite character, though there are some that would be fun to imitate. I think I read too many books where the main character is required to be in danger. That would be scary. I prefer reading about it. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, Tom Sawyer was the first book I checked out of the library...and I tried to act like Becky Thatcher. (I had a lot of alone time with my books and my acting, lol).

Can so relate to picking up things from British mysteries. I still find myself adding u's to words that don't need them or misusing toward and towards.

ReplyDeleteI've always thought the Sofie Ryan cozies look fun. After all cats! And I love reading British mysteries for exactly that reason- I love the phrasing and have been known to pick it up as well. :)

ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you sometimes pick up slang or phrasing from books. After reading the Maze Runner I kept thinking words like "shank" a lot but luckily didn't say them out loud.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I pick up a lot of slang from books as well! I still use bits from Harry Potter, and occasionally Feed. :)

ReplyDeleteOoooh....Nancy Drew! I have never read any of her adventures.... :( I tended to prefer the Hardy Boys, because I was a tomboy at the time. Shame on me!! I need to make it up to Nancy! I'm sure I would have wanted to be in her shoes (pun intended, lol) if I had read her books!

I think every girl wanted to be Nancy Drew haha! I've been told that I act like Bella from Twilight, not the selfless, death-defying actions she does, but more like her sarcastic, shy, intuitive, thoughtful personality. Plus, we both love to read and love Edward Cullen! My BBH
