Friday Linkups - Dinner with Edward

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you participate in The Bloggiesta?
My Answer:
I mean to - really I do! I think this is such a fantastic idea and I could really use it but the timing never quite works out.
This week's book is one I'm really excited about - Dinner with Edward by Isabel Vincent. It's a beautiful little book about a friendship that develops between a woman that is going through a divorce and a man who has just lost his wife. There's lots of food and just wonderful conversations and so far I'm completely pulled in!
The Beginning:
I heard about the promise Edward made to his dying wife long before I met him.
My Thoughts:
This makes the book sound sad and melancholy but it really isn't! It's more on the poignant thought provoking side.
The 56:
The french fries, or pommes souffles, comprised one of his more complicated culinary tricks that I have yet to master.
My Thoughts:
A really good homemade french fry is harder than it appears. I have a feeling I would love Edward's. There's a description of soft potato and crispy outside along with a touch of salt on a later page that has my mouth watering!
So what do you think? Keep reading?
LOL! I've never tried it, but just watching people do it on television lets me know there's an art to it, for sure. Sounds like an interesting read, Katherine! Hugs...RO

ReplyDeleteAs for Bloggiesta, you can always work the event around your schedule. I always start mine ahead of time...which leaves the actual weekend free.

ReplyDeleteThis book has such a fantastic set up. I haven't heard of this before but I really do like the sound of it. I don't sign up for any of the blogger events. I do want to but I can't ever know when I am really going to be able to dedicate the time to an event.

ReplyDeleteThis is one I might possibly read and probably enjoy much more than I though, if a copy ever came my way, but I have to be honest and admit that I wouldn't be going out to shop for a copy.
We very seldom eat chips (fries), although when we do, as Brits we tend to prefer the triple cooked, thick cut chips, to the thin and generally very flaccid fries which we generally get served over here. If the recipe or French Fries which Isabel features in the book works, perhaps it needs to be more widely adopted and shared!
Bloggiesta season is a time I try to avoid, as there are so many great new book recommendations floating around that it is poitively dangerous to my health and my pocket. I have never had enough free time to actually take part in one though!

I like doing this book quite a bit. I made crab cakes, inspired from the book, but there were so many Foodie choices. I'll give you my link here case you want that recipe.
