Friday Linkups - Accidentally on Purpose

It's Friday linkup time!  I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice

This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
If you could have lunch with any living author/and/or book bloggers, who would you choose and why?

My Answer:
Author-wise Jill Shalvis, Sarah MacLean, or Julia Quinn because every interview I've heard from them has been amazing.  I haven't heard as much from mystery authors though I've really enjoyed all the interviews I've read or listened to from Stephen King.

Blogger-wise this is impossible!  There are so many fantastic bloggers that I'd really love to have lunch with that there's no way I can answer this!  Maybe all the book bloggers should just get together for a big massive party!

This week's book was another random library grab but it's one from one of my favorite romance authors - Jill Shalvis.  Accidentally on Purpose is one of the more recent books in the Heartbreaker Bay series and while I usually prefer to read a series in order when I'm reading for pleasure I couldnt' resist this one when I saw it sitting on the shelf at the library.  I'm a little more than halfway through and really enjoying it!  I'm looking forward to going back and catching up on the series.

The Beginning:
It was a good thing Elle Wheaton loved being in charge and ordering people around, because if it wasn't for the thrill of having both those things in her job description, she absolutely didn't get paid enough to handle all the idiots in her world.

My Thoughts:
I really like this beginning.  I definitely get a sense of who Elle is and what her job is like.

The 56:
He'd realized he wasn't cut out for having his hands tied just because his idea of right and wrong didn't match up with someone else's.

My Thoughts:
This makes him sound much more rebellious than he really is but his reasons for thinking this way really define his character.

So what do you think?  Keep reading?  Who would you like to have lunch with?

  2. I liked this book - hope you do too!! A blogger party sounds perfect :) As for authors I would love to have lunch with Rainbow Rowell or maybe Taylor Jenkins Reid. Have a great weekend!

  3. That's a fun beginning. :) And a book blog party sounds pretty good. There could be a blogger convention or something...

    Have a great Friday!

  4. I've been noticing this book around, and wanting to read it...and the author's other books.

It would be hard to pick an author to lunch with...or a blogger. I guess that is why we all need to go to BEA and meet some in person, in a big group.

  5. Whoops! I failed to see the and/or book blogger clause in the question. I don't know the book blogging community very well so I don't have an answer for that anyway. Like you said, there are so many fantastic bloggers out there!

  6. Jill Shavis is an author I've been meaning to try. Glad you're enjoying the read.

  7. I liked Jill Shalvis too. I really need to get more of her books. This week I'm featuring Come and Find Me by Hallie Ephron. Happy reading!

  8. Jill Shalvis is a good one! Can we go to her house in Tahoe? I could just sit and look at the lake all day . . . :-) Her new book you are reading sounds really good! Have a great weekend, Katherine!

  9. I love the idea of a massive blogger party! I'm also a stickler for reading series in order, but that's more important in some series than in others. There's a murder mystery series I love by Tana French where you really could read them in any order as the characters change for almost every book.

  10. Blogger-party, blogger-party... yay! Meet @ Katherine's home. Everyone bring a wrapped favorite book and a bottle, whether wine or iced coffee :)

I like to read my series in order, but if I'm tempted I do, and then go backwards to catch up. Haven't read Shalvis yet, but I agree... choosing an author to lunch with would be a tough pick. Though I met Tess Gerritsen after a book signing at an indie bookstore in Maine, and I missed the discussion, but she graciously signed two books for me and hung around to give me a brief run-down of her talk. So fan-friendly and funny! You wouldn't know from reading her intense series-- she was a hoot! I 'd pick her :)

  11. Great answer, but I will pass on Stephen King. :)

Bloggers are the best, and I would love to have lunch with any of my wonderful blogger friends.

    ENJOY your weekend.

  13. All the book bloggers coming together for one big party would be so fun!!! I would love to have a sit down with Stephen King; I think that would be a fascinating conversation. I haven't read any interviews with Lisa Genova, but I'd love to talk all things books with her.

  17. Hmm... I don't think I am the right person to ask about this book to keep readibg. Heh heh. I am probably not going to do this week's hop because I really have no good answer for author or blogger, other than it should be Octavia from Read. Sleep. Repeat. for blogger because I have known her the longest and she was the one who always patiently answered all of my stupid newbie blogger questions. :)

  18. I've been keeping up with this fun series. Just read that the Mistletoe book is being made into a movie!

  19. I've been wanting to read Shalvis and Quinn for some time now, and really should make the time to do so, as the reviews on their books are GREAT! So it would be very nice to have lunch with either one of them! I'm not familiar with McLean. As for King, heck, NO!! He scares the living daylights out of me! Lol.

I see that great minds think alike! I was working on my post yesterday evening, and I, too, thought it would be AWESOME if I could get together with all of my favorite bloggers at least once a year, for a nice BIG lunch!!

I see you've picked a Jill Shalvis book this week! Well, I really MUST check it out! :) :) :)

Thanks for sharing!! Hope you're having a WONDERFUL Saturday!! <3 :)
