This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you encourage other reading friends to start a blog or at least put their thoughts/reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, etc?
My Answer:
Not really. If someone asks how I keep track of what I read or mentions that they're having trouble remembering their thoughts on a book I would definitely recommend Goodreads but I don't think I would suggest it without prompting.
The Beginning:
"You frighten me," the Gypsy said. "Never have I seen my crystal ball so filled with darkness."
My Thoughts:
I think I'd take that as a sign to go! Definitely not a fortune I'd like to be told.
The 56:
Family specter? I had the sudden feeling that someone had tossed a bucket of ice water over my heart.
My Thoughts:
I'm all for ghosts but I imagine a family specter would be a little disconcerting.

I don't encourage other people either. I do say that I love Goodreads and it is a great way to share what you think. This series sounds good! I like the beginning you shared. Hope you enjoy it!

I don't really run across that many readers in my daily life which is really strange because I work in a school library. I am spotlighting All the Little Liars by Charlaine Harris - the latest in the Aurora Teagarden series. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOoh this sounds good. Anytime a gypsy tries to tell your fortune and her ball fills up with shadows, that's not a good thing! And I love that title!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever mentioned Goodreads to anyone outisde of blogging circles, now that I think about. But the few really avid readers I know probably wouldn't be interested- the guys wouldn't care and the older ones would be like Hah?? It's on the computer??????" lol
I do encourage people to check out Goodreads and put their thoughts there. Also, if someone is raving about a book I usually tell them they might find other people who love it there as well.

LOVE the Flavia de Luce series. I want to reread them and even own them; probably the ebooks though. I guess I don't mention Goodreads unless I'm talking about books. I'm really glad I joined that site. I've been exposed to so many new authors and read more genres now.

Alan Bradley's books about Flavia de Luce are favourites of mine. They are "English Country House" mysteries and Flavia indulges her passion for chemistry to assist in solving them. She also has two erudite sisters who provide some memorable quotes. These books are not to be missed as they are absolutely splendid. The first in the series is named "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie", and I believe that Bradley has written seven or eight so far.
